Pear Mrs. Thompson: I am crua-ed and have found that 1 am not In lov with tho man I am to marry. He is very coed to mo and would hang himself if I r(jii'sfl if. I yuess I nm like sorno other i;irls. I vri"t a nan who makes mo do thing!! nn,d will not always nivr in to my will. H is so easy to tnanscc that he doesn't interest me. I want a man I will hava to tight to keep. I Pin very much worried about tho outcome of things, because if I tell this man that 1 do not love him it will break h'.H heart. I ran see now how rare fnl girls should be before they become engaged. I have never been rtr,aKPO before and if I ever am again It will be booaure I love the man desperately. What will be the kindest thing I can do to break'tho ensairement ? IN DISTUKH.-3. It will be Impossible to break your enrnsement without hurting the i:nin deeply. Fortunately, however, it is human nature not to gri"ve long for anything Tell the truth and trust that the man will be happ-er ultimately than he would be married to you. Dear Mrs. Thompson: 1 nm seventeen years old and for two morths was enticed to a man thirtythree. He raid he loved rne and promised me n diamond ring and everything I could want. , I thought he had a lot of money from the way he talked, and he owned an automobile and took me to dinner

not heard a word frcm him. I wrote several letters and they were returned uih laimed. Then I went to his address and barned from his landlady that he left wi'h his subcase at night and owes her for a week's rent. I am broken hearted, because I loved him so much. 1 believe he will come lack to me some day. because he seemed to care so much for me, too. If I hear from him, what shall I do? Shall I let him come back or turn nim down? My father has been very mean to me since this happened and instead of sympathizing says it serves me right and it is just what he expected. LILLIAN. I doubt if you will hear from the man ag:iin. Of all qualities dishonesty is the most contemptible. You were very much too young to be engagrd. anyway. I!e thankful that, you learned in time tbe true character of the man. Refuse to have anything more to do with him in case he does come Lack.

Hear Mrs. Thompson: I am in love with a man who seems to care a lot about me, but so far he has not said anything about love. He comes to see me often, but is not jealous when I go places with other men. I am getting tired of this and either want to drop him or have him sav something definite. DOUBTFUL. Let the man take his own time to tell you that he loves you. Go with other men, too, and try not to think of marriage. You cannot rush love and if you try you will be sorry.

Changes in Africa

HOUSE'S DAUGHTER WITH :MvCE PARTY

Kit!

I'M par T. Hole, a Friends missionary, well known In Richmond, now doing work in an African field, writes in a recent letter that he is much impressed with chances that have taken place since he first entered the field. He says: "Returning to Africa after an absence of nearly two years I am reminded of the changes which have taken place since I first went there sixteen years ago. Now things are this way. A bridge 'needs repairs, but a missonary's time and strength is no longer taken for its repair. The mattrr resolves into the selection of a few trained native boys to .hitch oxen to a wagT;n; take necessary tools; get lumber from the saw mill; proceed to the Nzoia liver bridge and do the work. Other boys get on with logging in tiie forests or the transport work a- occasion demands. Or a casement sa-h is to be hung. Native boys do the work. Trained boys are also able to go right ahead with all s:ich work?

Thirty Feet of Danger

The intestinal canal is an important part of every individual, important every inch of its thirty feet. The upper portion of it is intended for the digestion of food and absorption of its useful portions. Diit the lower part is concerned with the elimination of waste material. It is, in other words, the nreat sewer of the bod". The more food eaten, the greater the waste. If a sewer becomes clogged up, its contents stagnate and become more and more dangerous. Constipation means more than failure to evacuate the bowels regularly and thoroughly. It means stagnation, increased fermentation, putrefaction and germ action. Increased amounts of irritating and poisonous substances are formed Absorption of these into the blood follows. Self-poisoning results. Danger, disorder, disease, or even death follow. Pills, purgative mineral waters, castor oil, salts, etc., do not cure constipation or prevent its consequences. They make it worse because they do not only irritate the bowels, but they wear out' in effect and so must betaken in increasing doses, making constipation a habit.
