62 FRENCH WAR VETERANS PLAY IN ARMY BAND

The French Army Band, composed of 62 veterans of France, is in this country under the direction of the French High Commission to the United States for the increase and advancement of the "entente cordiale" between the two republics. It will play in Richmond the afternoon and evening of December 12. Captain Gabriel Tares, leader of the band, is the second highest officer In the musical branch of the French army: and in Paris is the conductor rf a band known as the Garde Republlca!ne, which played at the expositions at St. Louis and San Francisco. Many people in other cities have been curious to know what the small red tar on the service ribbon worn by the members of the band means. It has the Fame significance as the gold inverted chevron of the America" uniform a wound received in tattle. The appearance of the band of pHzpd French musicians and honored soldiers has caused no small crowds, and has brought forth ovations la all cities of the United States where they have played. Their appearance causes one to fei Bcmethlfg more thin the usual thrill of a military band, for Ihese men have gone through a season of real "thrills" themselves on the French front. The concerts which will be given in Richmond on December 12 will be marled and remarkable. The special matinee in the afternoon to which the school children will be admitted for 25 cents, and for which there will be no reserve seats has been made possible so that the "young Americans" of the city shall have every opportunity to hear the3o someday historic musicians. In the evening reserved seats will be BO cents. There will be no other prices. The plat is now open at Harrison's Drug store, on Main street.

EATON. O.. Dec. 6. After a threedays' seFR:on, which closed Wednesday evening, the grand Jury reported nine true bills and ignored eight cases. All the true bills are for the present withheld from publication. A total of 62 witnesses testified before the jury in covering the total number of c:ises investieated.
