ELIZABETH THOMPSON
Hi
n.if ' I T M ! I:
Dear Mrs. Thompson: We have been married eleven years and have seven children, ranging from a baby to ten yej-s. There was never any Jealousy on either fide until last spring. My husband had to go on a business trip of two hundred miles. When a friend of oure heard -of this rhe ashed if he could drive with my husband, as she had relatives at that place and wished to visit them.
They made the trip in one day and ftayed a week. Then they returned uH' home. We never thought anything else but what this lady would say, ' ' "What are the dues," thinking Fhe i .:. would offer to pay for come of the gas. But not a word. Now when I want my husband to get some member of the family to do a little work for us, he always says, '"Please forget about it." . Does this sound suspicious, or am il f U8t Jealous? J These people have . a lovely home , and no babies, but until now they t have never csked us out to their home f or showed us a favor of any kind. You can Imagine we have plenty to do with tho little ones, as I do all the work myself. " ' Please answer as soon as conven- ( ' lent as this is causing a lot of worry "' and trouble in the family. J. B. M. Yes, you are suffering from an attack of Jealousy. Nothing has occurred which would mean your husband is interested in the other woman fc. r "he In him. T The woman thought that as long
a your husband was making the trio

it would be needed by you. Your ! husband is generous and wants to coni Fider the matter closed. Do not sugRest having members of the woman's
family do work for you. Such a thing sounds cheap to your husband and irritates him. This' is a matter which you must entirely forget. To mention it again will only make your husband more impatient with you and will endanger your happiness together. - Dear Mrs. Thompson: We are two girls and have a couple of boy friends who go with us when they can not get out-of-town girls who come here to visit. Please tell us how we can make them think more of us. DISAPPOINTED COUPLE. Let the boys telephone you and call upon ycu. without your inviting them. If you telephone them they will soon consider it an annoyance, because any time they feel inclined to talk, they will phone you. Dress neatly and not in extreme styles. A boy may go with a girl a few times who dresses in extreme styles, uses slang and "spoons," but when he picks out a girl he wishes to keep as a friend he wants her to be refined and respected. Go with other boys, too. Let these boys worry about meaning more to you than the other boys do. Just as you are now worrying about their out-of-town girls. Above all, remember t"hat it Is human nature to want most the things which are hard to get. ;

PLAN TO COMBAT NEXT EPIDEMIC
CHICAGO. Dec. 2. Plana for combatting another ' influenza epidemic which is expected to sweep, the country in 1319 will be considered by the health authorities from all parts of the United Spates. Canada and South America at the forty-sixth annual convention of the American Public Health Assoc'ation which opens here Dec. 9. Members of the association say that all the influenza epidemics since 1729 have been recurrent for from two to three years after the initial outbreak. For this reason leading authorities feel convinced that the vis'tation of 1918 will be repeated in 1919 and probably in 1920. Also it is pointed out that in previous epidemics the, second and third outbreaks have been more virulent and attended by a higher mortality rate than were the Initial manifestations. It was early in 1913, according to Dr. W. A. Evans, former health, commissioner of Chicago, that the now so-called Spanish Influenza made its appparance in Spain.. Now Spain, is having its second outbreak, according to Dr. Evpns. more virulent in form prd attended by an alarming death rate. ... uring the three-day meeting, the methods used in combatting the 1918 epidemic in the United States will be thoroughly considered and plans outlined for meeting any future emergency. Among, those who will present papers and take part in the discussions are Major W. H. Welch, of the National Medical Corps; Dr. E. C. Rosenow, of the Mayo foundation; Dr. Herman Biggs, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health and Dr. A. J. McLaughlin, assistant Surgeon General of the United States Public Health Service. Besides consideration of influenza, many subjects of general interest pertaining to public health during the re
construction period will be taken up. There will be discussions regarding proper precautions in the care of children to reduce mortality rates, rural sanitations, the efTect of fashions on health and the use of narcotics in war times.

TRIED RECIPES. Baked Whlteflsh Clean fish well, rub inside and out with pepper and salt and lard. Place on a coton clcth in a dripping pan; slice onion over the top, pour over one-half cup of Worcestershire sauce and one pint of tomatoes. - Bake until you can easily pull the flesh from the bone with a fork. ,-,-..,.. ..v,,-. . Smothered Sausage Prick four link sausages' with sharp fork and place in bottom of casserole. On these place hot mo bhed potatoes and bake thirty minutes. It adds to the attractiveness to pour over the potatoes a well-beaten egg before baking, but it is not necessary. Fish Chowder Melt a tablespoon of meat drippings or "oleo" in a kettle, add one large onion, let cook a few minutes and all two cups of diced raw potatoes, cover with boiling water and cook until tender. Add one cup of milk (or more if you desire), onehalf can of corn or peas. Then put in the flaked fish left from the night before and serve hot. Prune Pudding Cook prunes until tender, remove pits and chop prunes; add one tablespoon cf sugar and one cup of waier to one pound of prunes. When boiling stir in enough cornstarch (mokvtened with water) to thicken. Serve cold with ' top milk; This is nearly as good as prune whip and much cheaper is not difficult to make. Scalloped Potatoes One quart potatoes, two cups scalded milk, four tablespoons butter substitute, three
