Nov. 29-Two thousand persons took part In a bear bunt In the heart of New York city Thursday during which one man died of excitement and two men were injured before bruin was led to her cage in Central Park at the end of a short rope. SEEKS $10,000 HEART BALM

WINCHESTER. Ind., Nov. 29 Suit for $10,000 damages has been filed at Greenville, O., by W. R. Mann of this county against Virgil Piatt of Darke county, Ohio, alleging that Piatt has stolen the effactlons of Mann's wife and caused her to leave him and take up her abode elsewhere.

SHIPYARDS TO BE ACTIVE III WINTER

(By Associated Press), - DETROIT. : Mich., Nov. 29. Winter Is not to halt production of vessels In the larger shipyards of ' the Detroit district - Scores of vessels have been built at the local yards during the war, virtually all ofthem for service on the Atlantic. That there is to be no marked let-up in production here is indicated by plans of one Detroit yard , to build, fourteen freighters for the United States Shipping Board during the weeks thelakes are frozen. ' i The ; company , plans to fit out the vessels complete in every detail and moor them. att docks along the river front to await breaking up of ice in the spring. The cargo carriers will then be sent to the Atlantic coast under their own power. The vessels will all be in the "Welland canal size," so they will pass through the locks without cutting in two. All are to be of steel construction, averaging about 3,500 tons each.

Golf Tournament at Eaton Country Clnb EATON, O., Nov. 29. Members of the golf division of the country club will participate in a golf tournament Sunday ; for a Foch victory medal, which was presented the club by Rockefeller, the oil king. The tournament was to have taken place Thanksgiving day, but owing to unfavorable weather conditions was postponed until Sunday. The medal to be contested for is bronze and bears a bust relief -of Marshal Foch on one side and an appropriate inscription on the other side. Pioceeds from the tournament will go to the war worker's fund, this being one of the conditions upon which the medal was presented to the club.
