Keep Up Red Cross Work . Officials of the Wayne county branch of the Red Cross report an inclination on the part of subsidary chapters and workers in Richmond to lose interest in the yery necessary work that remains" to be done before the activities of the Red Cross can be closed. ' The signing of the armistice means that men will no. longer be wounded and maimedNon the field of battle, but it does not imply that the orders for supplies already placed must hot be filled. An urgent need exists for every order that ha3 been placed, and it seems that orders for supplies will be continued for some time. r Red Cross activities are not confined solely to helping the men wounded on the field of battle, but extend to many spheres directly affected by the war and of paramount importance. Millions of civilians ,in the war devastated countries of Europe will, need food 'and clothing during the winter, months. They w,ill need medical supplies and hospital accessories. , It would be a crime, against civilization if the work of the Red Cross would be impaired now by our negligence and if millions of suffering men and women would be abandoned to a cruel fate. The work of the American Red Cross in the last
four years has been stupendous. A fitting climax j to its noble activities will be a sustaining interest j
and a continued participation of its members in the work of love and mercy until the liigh officials of the society give the word to cease operations. Until that day, let this be the motto of the workers Carry On.
Thc United War Work Campaign ' The war is over. But that does not destroy the obligation we owe the men who fought for us. They made pos
sible the victory which we celebrated. So long!

and protectors. With the fighting over,' millions of our soldiers will long, for the comforts of home'and for their return to ttie United States. This interim will be filled with perplexing moments for the officers forced to supply the men with amusements and recreation. The United War Work campaign is intended to supply the . Y. M. C. A., K. of C, Salvation Army and other agencies, with funds to supply the amusements necessary at the camps. Can we do enough to show our appreciation and interest in the men who left their homes to battle for us and if need be lay down their lives ? Will we in the hour of victory forget them and show, a greater love for the dollar than for. the men whojirotected us and permitted us to enjoy the comforts and conveniences of home? The extent of bur appreciation of the work our men did will be measured by the gifts we offer this week. In one sense, the United War Work campaign is an opportunity to bring an offering of thanks for the benefit of our men.

AS A T Mrs. M. E. Hubbell .Tells Personal Experlence wlthNon-Alcohoilo " Medloin'e. V Regains Former Strength Not by quick judgment nor by what she has known Pepgen to do for other people, although she knows scores of. folks . who . speak highly .of the preparation, is Mrs. M. E. H.u'bbell'3 reason for recommending it. No, it is not that, but -because she tried it herself, and received benefits i that surprised her, is why she feels It her duty to explain her case. Mrs. Hubbell is well known here. She is a' practical nurse and has nursed in many of Richmond's beat families. Her home is at 524 Main street. Mrs. Hubbell's calling has naturally acquainted her with all of the most popular medicines of today and when she makes the following statement about Pepgen, as being the best tonic, it amounts to more than most people realize, unless, of course,' they have tried the tonic, then it is quite likely that they are as enthusiastic as Mrs. Hubbell is. Accident Caused Running Sore. "A year or bo ago I met with an accident that caused the rupture of an artery in my limb," says Mrs. Hubbel. Then there appeared a running sore and it seemed as If it was letting all of the strength out of my body. Finally I got the sore fairly well healed, but I couldn't regain my strength. I tried a great many different tonics but nothing helped me nothing gave me strength. "I was about as weak as I could be, without giving up and going to bed, when I was told about Pepgen. I took one bottle and by the time I finished that bottle I was fifty per cent stronger, then I got another bottle and by the time I had finished it I felt like another woman. "Pepgen built me up as nothing else had ever done. I am glad to Indorse the medicine and I think any one who is run down and needs something to build them up after a sickness will make a mistake If they do not try It." Get Pepgen at Thistlethwaite's or any first class drug store anywhere. DOCTOR'S FORMULA FINDS A HEARTY PUBLIC WELCOME No Secret "About Pepgen; Names of Ingredients Are Told; No, Alcohol Used. It is Just a little more than one year ago that Pepgen was first introduced to the public. It is the formula of a well known Dayton, Ohio, physician, who used it in his private practice previous to that time, obtaining many" remarkable- results. There is no secret about its composition as the ingredients used in the manufacture are printed on the back of each carton together with an explanation of their action. At first the sales were small, but as the value of the medicine became better known the sales increased until today this remarkable preparation has been used by scores right here in Richmond alone. The American Qrug company which put Pepgen on the market was completely swamped with orders in three months and found itself unable to supply Pepgen in sufficient quantity to meet the monster demand. Overwhelmed with the colossal demand it became necessary for the company to increase the capacity of its laboratories, but now the thousands of people who have '"been waiting for Pepgen may share in the benefits of relief experienced through its influence in stomach, kidney and liver ailments and symptoms which arise from these disorders, such as nervousness, dyspepsia, Hi77in(s9. eleeolessness. loss of flesh, waning strength, distress after tlnation. blotchy com plexion, also offensive 'and annoying derangements like bad breath. PURE CASCARA IS XA FINE LAXATIVE But It Is Greatly Improved by the Addition of Senna Leaves. . Pure Cascara is one of the best-laxatives known to the medical world, but cascara alone is not always sufficient to overcome a severe and aggra vated case of constipation. Senna Leaves are another popular, home remedy for constipation, but like cascara, they will not answer the problem where the ailment is of long standing. To secure best results cascara and senna should be used In combination. Two small horses traveling in the same direction will always outpull one big horse that weighs as much as both of them. To mix cascara and senna in exactly the proper proportions to always have a uniform dose requires a chemists' skill but you can purchase them already mixed under the name ; of "Pepgen Laxative Tablets." Pepgen Laxative Tablets are especially suitable for nursing mothers, tor people with delicate stomachs and for children where great care must be exercised in selecting a laxative. They are pleasant to take eat them" like candy. One tablet should be taken night and morning, gradually discontinuing their use as the action of the bowels become normal. It is a good Idea to ' take Pepgen Laxative Tablets at - the same . time you take Pepgen Tonic. The laxative tablets keep the bowels open while the tonic acts as a stomachic and strength builder, . , Sold by Clem Thlstlethwaite and other first class druggists.
