Lansing Expresses Sympathy of Americans for Polish Cause- Polish Force With Allies. WASHINGTON, Nov. 5. The Polish army, under the supreme political authority of the Polish National Committee, was recognized today by the United States Glvernment as autonomous and co-belligerent, Secretary Lansing so announced In a letter sent today to Roman Dmowski, president of the Polish National Committee, who Is In Washington. v Secretary Lansing said the Americon government feels, a deep" sympathy for the Polish people, and views with gratification the progress of the Polish cause. He also said it had not been unmindful of the zeal and tenacity with which the Polish National Committee, which has headquarters at Paris, prosecuted the task of marshalling its fellow countrymen In a supreme military effort to free Poland from its present oppressors. The action of the American government is similar to that taken recently

by France. Great Britain and Italy. A

Polish army is now fighting on tne

western front with the allied armies, being under the command of General

Josef Haller. A large part or tnis 01

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross desires to again call the attention of the families of soldiers who are members of the American Expeditionary Force, of the necessity for saving the Christmas Parcel Label which they will very shortly receive from the men overseas. No Christmas parcel can be sent to members of the Exepditlonary Force of the United States without having affixed to It, one pf the Christmas Parcel labels sent by the soldier himself, and no duplicates can be Issued if these labels are lost. Announcement

of the plan which will be followed in 1 Inspecting and sending out the packages will be made very shortly. The thing to be remembered now by all those Interested is to Save The Label! The first shipment of cartons for the Christmas parcels for the men of the American Expeditionary Forces was received by the Wayne county chapter of the American Red Cross, on Saturday, but up to this morning the Inspection labels necessary for completing the packages ready for mailing, have not been received. On account of the small number of carton3 sent and the absolute necessity of utilizing everyone, it has been decided that the cartons will not be given out and taken home for packing but that the gifts will be brought to the inspection stations and packed ip the cartons at the time they are Inspected. As soon as the inspection labels are received, inspection stations will be opened in the lobby of the postoffice in charge of a group of inspectors of which Miss Blanche Scott will be chairman. Stations will also be opened at Cambridge City, Hagerstown, Economy, Centerville and Fountain City, and persons living outside of Richmond may take their gifts to which ever one of these stations is most convenient. It should be borne In mind however, that no package whatever may be sent except those that bear the parcel label sent by tho soldier, and that no duplicate label can be issued so that it i3 extremely important that persons roceivine; labels from overseas take good care of them. Considerable confusion also exists as to whom the Christmas parcel regulations apply and it should be understood that men in this country may receive parcels by parcels post or express without inspection by the Red Cross. The whole Christmas parcel plan applies only to men in the American Expeditionary Forces. The material for completing the

Christmas packages to soldiers over

seas has now been received by the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Inspectors will be on duty at the postoffice beginning Wednesday afternoon and will be
