MILLION DOLLARS EACH MINUTE IF LOANjSJ AISED Subscriptions of People at , Home Expected to Match Courage of Men Overseas. (Py Associated Press) WASHINGTON. Oct. 18. One million dollar a minute is what the nation must subscribe between now and mldnkht tomorrow night if the fourth Liberty Loan Is to go over the six billion dollar mark. Treasury officials estimated today that Just 33 working hours remained to the million solicitors when they set out this morning for a whirlwind finish to the three weeks' campaign for the greatest war loan In all history. The task before these workers was recognized as a stupendous one, but there was no doubt here that It would be accomplished. Officials have no doubt that the nation will respond liberally to the call for dollars for failure of this loan not only would dishearten the American and allied armies, but would give new hope to the shattered German hosts now in retreat over half the western . front. An over subscription, officials said, is all that remains as the clinching proof to Germany'that the war will be prosecuted without stint and at whatever cost until a Just and lasting peace is made possible. None Have Reached Quota. News that a great part of Belgium has been liberated after four years beneath the heel of German autocracy, and that Albert, King of the Belgians with Queen Elizabeth had entered Ostend to greet their rescued people was expected to give impetus to the loan drive. Then, too, the story of how the Americans near the Meuse had plunged through mud almost knee deep in the face of a withering machine gun fire to rout the Germans from Grand Pre was relied upon by the Liberty Loan Workers to bring a generous outpouring of dollars. With less than 48 hours remaining in the campaign not a single reserve district has attained Its quota. Two, Atlanta and Philadelphia, officially have not reached the half way mark. New York still has $800,000,000 to raise. St. Louis and Minneapolis are leading in the order named, wfth the latter claiming to have gone ower the top. MUST DOUBLE AMOUNT NEW YORK, Oct. 18. All subscribers to the Fourth Liberty loan in the New York federal reserve district were called upon today by the central loan committee to increase their subscriptions in order that the district
may attain the daily average of $283,-'
609,216 necessary to "go over the top," with its allotment of $1,800,000,000.
Many great corporations have announc
ed their intention of subscribing for additional bonds and it is understood that two of the largest life insurance companies have mortgaged their entire future earnings to help the nation meet its greatest financial test. While the small army of workers
started a quiet recanvass of every house in the district with the plea of "buy another bond," there were many patriotic demonstrations throughout the city. One of the most spectacular of these was a continuous 36 hour drive, which started at noon at "Liberty hall" in Times square. Not a minute until midnight tomorrow night will be permitted to pass without some appeal being made to "buy another bond." Ten bands provided music and prominent men spoke. Mrs. Robert Bacon will raise the service flag dedicated to Americans
who have died in France, at the altar
of Liberty this afternoon at "heroes'
hour" from 4 until 5 o'clock. Mrs. Bacon has three sons in the service. Her . husband went to France as a member of General Pershing's staff.
John D. Ryan, assistant Secretary
of War in charge of aircraft produc
tion, will be the speaker at the altar
of liberty tomorrow.

Rheumatism
Physician Believes a Genuine Remedy for the Disease Has- Been Found. Rheuma, the wonderful rheumatism remedy sold by Quigley's Drug Stores and . all druggists, gives quicker and more lasting relief than other remedies costing many times as much. liheuma passes the deadly poisonous secretions into the bowels and kidneys, from which they are quickly thrown off in a natural, healthy way. Read what a reputable physician says about Rheuma: "t have made a most careful Investigation of the formula employed in the manufacture of Rreuma. and heartily recommend it as a remedy for all forms of rheumatism. I find Rheuma far in advance of the methods generally employed in the treatment of rheumatism, and altogether different in composition from the remedies usually prescribed." Dr. M. C. Iyons. This should give any sufferer from rheumatism confidence to try Rreuma. Adv.
