uled for October, were canceled, so the Western Conference championseason will be entirely confined to November. The season will open on November 2 and close on November 30, the Saturday following Thanksgiving, instead of the preceding Saturday, as has been the conference rule. None of the coaches attempted to schedule Thanksgiving games with conference elevens, but as holiday football always has been a great attraction In the Middle West, some of the coaches undoubtedly will arrange games with service elevens. It will be -the first time since 1905 that Thanksgiving Day football will be served followers of the sport by the Western Conference. .The opening games will bring together Iowa and Illinois, Northwestern and Michigan and Chicago and Purdue. Six of the teams in the conference wil be in action on the next four Saturdays, but only two contests were arranged for the closing day of the season. Chicago arranged the heaviest schedule, bagging five games. Michigan scheduled four, and in addition probably wil lmeet Syracuse at Ann Arbor on November 16, a week before the clash with Minnesota. The Wolverines will signalize their return to the conference by meeting Northwestern, Chicago, Minnesota arid Ohio in the order named. Indiana was unfortunate in arranging a new program, as Coach Steihm was unable to scedule a single contest within the conference. The games with Minnesota and Iowa were called oft because it was impossible to make the trips within the forty-eight-hour limit.

Commercial Club Directors Meet Tonight A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Commercial club will be held this evening.

EARLHAM SQUAD GUT TO 33 MEN

The Earlham College football squad has been cut from 41 men to 33 men, according to Coach Mowe of the Earlham faculty. "Nothing definite can be stated about the schedule," the coach said, "but we will probably play St Mary's college and possibly one or two others." The squad is showing up very well in practice but of course the men have not been under fire this year and how well they will hold together can only be determined after the St. Mary's game. If any basketball is played among the colleges of the state, Earlham will play and if possible they will play under their old schedule but this is thought impossible as the schools having military training cannot have men away from camp except on Saturday and then only for a few hours.

Labor Meetings

The regular meeting of the Central Labor council which would have been held on Thursday night, has been postponed on account of the epidemic.

ed Postmaster Beck Wednesday morning, and all city patrons or rural route patrons who regularly receive their mail by postal delivery are asked to co-operate in the new ruling. No mail assigned to regular delivery will be given out at the postoffice window, and no mail carrier can be stopped on the street to hunt through his pack and give out mail which is to be delivered at the house address. IS RICHMOND SATISFIED? The Evidence Is Convincing. The Testimony Open to Investigation. Before a statement can be accepted here, it must be supported by local testimony by the evidence of someone residing in Richmond. Statements from unknown people in remote places may be true, but we cannot prove them. Here is a statement by a Richmond resident: R. T. Cooper, carpenter, 920 N. Twelfth St., says: "My work as a carpenter is hard on the back and kid neys. I suffered from dull backaches with soreness through my loins. I could hardly stoop to pick up my tools and I was also annoyed by my kidneys acting irregularly. I got Doan's Kidney Pills from Quigley's Drug Store and they soon straightened me out and put my kidneys in good shape." Price 60c, at all dealers. 419 EGGS FROM 20 HENS IN 30 DAYS Mr. Dougherty Got This Result In October. Plan is Easily Tried.

"I tried Don Sung and must say the results were far past any expectations. I got 419 eggs in 30 days from 20 bens while moulting. I think this is wonderful, as they hardly laid at all before while moulting." Frank Dougherty, 6940 E. 11th St.. Indlanapolir. Mr. Dougherty bought $1 worth of Don Sung tablets during October and wrote the above letter November 8. 1917. Figure his profit on 35 dozen eggs from hens that formerly laid little or nothing. This may sound too good to be true, but it costs noth'ng to find out. We'll make you the same offer we made him. Give your hens Don Sung and watch results for one month. If you don't find that Don Sung pays for itself and pays you a good profit besides, simply tell us and your money will be refunded. Don Sung (Chinese for egg-laying) works directly on the egg-laying organs, and Is also a splendid tonic. It is easily given in the feed, improves the hen's health, makes her stronger and more active in any weather, heips her through the moult, and 3tarts her laying. - Try Don Sung for 30 days and if it doesn't do the work, your money will be refunded by return mail. Get Don Sung from your druggist or poultry remedy dealer or send 50 cents today for a paokage by mail prepaid. Bur-rell-Dugger Co.. 168 Columbia Bldg., Indianapolis, Ind. Adv.

ing conditions will act and never a question will be asked. The retail stores of this city, regardless of Monetary results, stand ready to do as Uncle Sam says to maintain a normal selling force, and to do all in their power to distribute the holiday business throughout the months of October, November and early December.

To that end these definite rules have been made by the Council of National Defense

That retailers must not employ extra help for holiday busi-iness-to conserve labor. That normal working hours be maintained-to conserve fuel. That the purchase of useful gifts (except for children) be encouraged. That the bulk of gift purchasing be spread over October and

November to avoid congestion of traffic. That customers carry light-weight parcels that gaJine and, oil may be saved. That facilities be perfected to secure shipment of gifts in October and November and thus avoid later postal and railroad congestion.
