Red Cross Notes
The campaign for clothing for the people of the occupied portion of France and Belgium bids fair to exceed expectations as the Interest taken seems to increase daily. The children of the Starr School contributed a great pile of clothing which was brought to the headquarters by one of Captain Roberts army trucks. The organized Girls Liberty Guards of the High School has undertaken to make
a personal canvass of the city In order to call the attention of everyone to the urgent demand for clothing. The quota of 4 tons is by no means a maximum limit and the present indications for reaching it should In no way lessen the Interest in the campaign because there is no possibility of over-
supplying the demand. If the whole
country exceeds its minimum quota. It
simply means that there will be less
suffering. It does not mean that all
will be comfortable. The campaign
will continue through next Tuesday
Any inquiries will be answered over
telephone No. 1251. Material for the new surgical dress
lng quota has come and Is being pre
pared for the workers, so that there will be plenty to be done by Monday. The rooms will be opened from then on as usual, and workers are asked to remember that Tuesday and Thursday nights will be kept as formerly. .

the treasurer's office at the close of business of said day, as by law provided. People who are financially able to do so are requested to make payments early. By doing so they will not only be conferring a favor upon the treasurer's office force, but will avoid the inconvenience and delay Incident to the rush ,in the closing days of taxpaying for themselves, and will be favoring others by leaving the last days of the period for those who are less able to pay earlier.

The expense for flags used on the public school buildings has amounted to quite an item within the past year, stated Alfred Dingley, who has been in charge of supplying the new ones. The flags last only two months, on an average, and since they cost $21 a dozen, at present the eleven buildings use up considerably over a hundred dollars worth each year. In winter after a sleet when there is a slight wind, the flags are whipped
