Fred Scarce has passed a special examination and has entered an officers training camp at Camp McArthur, near Waco, Texas. The training will require three months after which he hopes to come out with a commission Winston Huff and Miss Gladys Gifford entered Earlham College last Monday morning The farmers are very busy now gathering corn, filling silos and sowing their wheat A display of socks are being shown in one of the windows of the Harris Dry Goods store, arranged by the War Mothers of New Garden township. There are 35 pairs in the display. The information card In the window states that these socks will be sent to each boy in the service from this township In his Christmas box. The War Mothers organization have run out of yarn and they have no funds so they are appealing to the public to donate money to buy more yarn so that they can complete ten more pairs in order that every soldier from this locality will receive a pair. A canvass taken today among the faculty members and students of the Western College for Women showed them to be the owners of Liberty Bonds and War Savings Stamps to the value of $35,913.35.
