CARL WIN IS SHOT IN QUARREL Carl Turpin, 34 years old, 1124 North L. Street, was shot Friday morning by
Martin Van Buren, 35 years old, at the Atlas Underwear factory. ' The argument was supposed to have been over .some money. Although the deed was committed at 7:30 Friday morning, the . police have not found the assailant who is believed still to be in the city. s According to Dr. Huffman who attended the case Van Buren had an

no information regarding the shooting yesterday, believing that would enable them to catch. Van Buren, but they failed. : - After Bhoting Turpin,. Van Buren disappeared and u pto noon he had not been located by the police. He lives at 32 Fort Wayne avenue. Turpin was taken to Dr. Huffman's office and later to his home. His condition Saturday was much improved, and is not considered serious. Turpin is a barber on North E street.

Charles henhoaer Is in Field Hospital Private Charles Isenboueiv who is stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., writes his sister Mrs. Bessie Perry, 117 North Fourteenth street, that he has been in the field hospital for some time, following an operation. He expresses regret that he will not get to go to France as soon as he had hoped. He hopes to be out in a few days, he says, and may be able to come borne on a short furlough. "They are building planes here every day," the soldier writes. One day the men set up a plane in four hours."
