The Missionary society of the Central Christian church will meet Thursday afternon with Mrs. George Mansfield at her home, 26 South Seventeenth street. With a goal of 100,000 members by 1919. and with plans for a monster petition, containing thousands of names, which Is to be presented to the 1919 legislature, the Woman's Franchise League of Indiana has entered upon the work of ratification of the federal suffrage amendment which will in all probability pass the senate son after the proposed recess of congress. An organization has been perfected to carry through the membership campaign and also obtain signatures for the petition which consists of a central committee, with Mrs. , Fred . H. McCulloch of Fort Wayne as general chairman, an advisory comltte, four sectional chairmen, precinct or ward chairmen and block chairmen. The state has been divided into four sections with a chair

As a direct result of the Suffrage school which was held in Merom tho week of June 25-29, organizers will be sent over the state to assist In the membership campaign. Miss Irene McLean, of Muncle organized Sullivan county, having spoken in Sullivan, Carlisle and Farmersburg, while Mrs. Olive Belden Lewis, formerly of Richmond and Miss Pansy Newby of Lewlsvllle are organizing the Third district. A successful opening of the campaign was the result obtained in Sullivan when the membership of the Sullivan Franchise League was trebled in an hour's work and more than 400 signatures to the petition to the Indiana legislature gained. The Loyal Daughters' class of First Christian church has changed its place of meeting, and will meet this evening with Mrs. Charles Partlow at her home 524 South Twelfth street, and not as announced Saturday.

SWEETS. Molasses Taffy. One quart molasses, one teaspoon bicarbonate of soda. Boil the molasses until it cracks when dropped in cold water, add the soda, stir quickly, pour on a greased platter to cool. Pull if liked. Honey Pop-Corn Balls. One cup of strained honey, popcorn. Boil the honey until it forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water. Pour over the corn, stir well, and when slightly cooled form into balls and stand them on greased paper. Nut Brittle. Melt in a frying-pan two cupfuls of light brown sugar. Stir constantly while the sugar is melting, and do not let it burn. In buttered pans place a layer of chopped walnuts or peanuts. When the sugar is entirely melted,-pour it in thin shets over the nuts. WThen cold, break in pieces. The melted sugar will not . be clear like melted white sugar. Clnamon Jibb.
