SPORTS ABANDONED AS PLAYERS TAKE UP WAR DUTIES
The war has Interfered with the Interest la golt and tennis, according to P.-C. Sprague ot the Country club. There will only be the annual club golt tournament this year, instead of the usual weekly tournaments. The majority of the young men golfers have gone to war, and the older men who used to play golf are now getting their exercise In war gardens or are occupied with patriotic "drives." The women, too, are not showing their usual interest in sports, and are spending their time at the Red Cross workrooms Instead of on the links. The golf links were put in condition at the first of the season, but have not been much used. Plant for the annual tournament have not been completed, and If interest In the game continues to decrease, it is possible that it may not be held.

BASEBALL SUPPLIES WANTED AT GAMP
The soldiers in training at the Richmond Commercial club detachment have begun baseball practice, and a request has been made by Captian Roberts, in charge ot the camp, for gloves, bats and balls to be used by the soldiers. The supplies will be considered as a loan, if so desired, and will be greatly appreciated by the men in camp. They may be sent to the camp In charge of the captain. Forty of the men at the camp are baseball players, and two, Graham and Walker, have pitched and caught for minor league teams, and are said to be especially good. Since George Mogrldge first became a member of the Yankees he has taken keen delight in taking the measure of the Boston Red Sox.
