2S ACRE FARM For sale. Buildings in splendid condition and could not be replaced for price asked for entire farm. One mile from interurban, five miles from Richmond. Small amount of cash needed. Address "Farmer" Care Palladium.
The weather man saw to it that the Indianapolis Merritts' reception was a warm one. The score keeper needed the entire Richmond company to score tho game. Those colored boys sure can "turn on the gas."
There seems to be too many militiamen who imagine they can play ball. Out of four times up Lynch, A. B. C. third baseman, got two beautiful swats at the horsehide, scoring on the second liner. The third time up the Merritt twirler took no chances so let him walk.
SALARIES HAVE NOT BEEN INCREASED The United States Civil Service commission announces that through some misunderstanding an impression prevails that the government baa raised the usual entrance salaries for stenographers and typists in the departments at Washington to $1,400 a year. There has been no change in initial salaries for positions of this kind, according to the commission. The usual salaries paid at the beginning range from $1,000 to $1,200 a year, appointments s $1,200 being In the minority. - There is still a demand for stenographers and typists In the government offices in Washington. Those who have considerable office experience are most desired.
Marcaus lammed out a two bagger
in the first of the ninth for the only run scored by the Merritts.
