in Prison.

KANSAS CITY, May 24. Mrs. Rose

Pastor Stokes, charged with violation

a jury. In Federal Court laat night.

Mrs. Stokes was convicted upon all three counts in the indictment against

her. After conferring with Francis M

Wilson. United States District Attor

ney. . and Seymour Stedman, of Chi

casro. Mrs. Stoke's counsel, Judge Van

Valkenburgh announced that he would defer sentence pending a motion for a new trial. He set June 1 as the date

for hearing the motion. ' '

The case had been given the jury at

en's Dining club of Kansas City, which

was the basis of the charges against

her. was intended for mature minds

and was theoretical. He pointed out

that the . testimony had shown Mrs

Stokes was knitting for soldiers just

previous to her arrest.

"She stands today as the most

subtle,' vicious German propagandist

in America," declared Francis M. Wilson, the United States District Attor

ney, In summing up the government's case. . "I do not charge that she is a paid agent of the Kaiser." he continued, "but I do say she is a frenzied fanatic on Socialism." Conviction carries with it a possible penalty of a fine of not more than $10,000, or 20 years' imprisonment, or both, on each count.
