Fifty thousand dollars will be required from Wayne County to meet the needs of the Red Cross. This monev will be raised next week. The ... ' war funds heretofore have been subscribed by comparatively few people of the city and county. The time has now come when everyone realizes the necessary work that the Red Cross is doing and no one able to give can be excused for not giving. Three thousand people in the city and as many in the county will be asked to give that have never given before and others who have given a very nominal sum will be asked to give more substantially. This will be necessary if the sum of $50,000 is to be subscribed. There are many people who could not subscribe for a Liberty Bond but can give to the Red Cross and help win the war. The committee has listed about four thousand names in the city that are able to give and the same is true throughout the county. All of these names have been carefully canvassed and an amount fixed according to ability which will be asked and expected of them. These amounts range from $1.00 to $3.00 for the wage earners and people of property according to circumstances as high as $500. Everybody should be prepared to meet the committeemen who will have the task of soliciting this money. These are busy times and these are all busy men and it should be a pleasure to every citizen to make the subscription cheerfully and promptly. These calls will be made at the homes and authority should be given .... to the wife to sign the blank in the event the man of the house is absent. Already 1200 Wayne County boys are in the service and soon there will be double that number. Wayne County will stand back of them with the necessary money to provide all comforts possible. While they are giving their lives, what are we giving? Think! Wayne County War Fund Commitee.
