the upper photo and the rocks where he is attempting to hide. If he were out on the battlefield in France an enemy sniper wouldn't have much difficulty jn spotting him off. It would not be at all easy unless you had been told, to find that a man is hiding among the rocks In the lower photograph. Look close and youH see that the small rock is not a rotfk at all, but a man camouflaged to look like one. He's the same man as the one shown in the upper photo, only this time his uniform is covered by the rock camouflage. It would be rather difficult for a sniper to spot him now. The man is one member of the first and second platoons of the camouflage class conducted by the Xew York board of education. He la showing the others just how camouflage works. Kirkwood, 656 Aero Squadron, now In France, in which he gives an interesting descrip-. tkm of his trip from Elkhart, where he enlisted, to Fort Thomas, San Antonio, and across the Atlantic to England and France.
