War Savings Activities Not to Be Suspended (By Associated Press! SOUTH BEXD, Ind., May 7. Warsaving activities will not be suspended in Indiana during the Red Cross drive, scheduled for this month. This notification has been sent to the Indiana State committee by Frank A. Vanderlip. chairman of the National War-
savings committee. He has wired the
following to the Indiana organization
heads: "We understand that some state directors are being asked to postpone war-savings activities until after the
i Red Cross drive. Although we wish
! every possible success to the Red
Cross in its great work the war-savings work must go on uninterruptedly. Government financial program cannot give way. War Savings organizations should continue their campaign for the sale of government securities with undivided energy."
(By Associated Press) LAFAYETTE, Ind.. May 6 Roosters surviving the week of June 3-8 in Indiana this year will be in a position to consider themselves lucky. That week has been set aside as "rooster week" by the poultry department of Purdue University, and every owner of a male chicken will be urged in the seven days to sell, kill or confine closely for the remainder of the summer every rooster he has. The poultry experts say that unless drastic action is taken with the rooster he will be responsible for several million of the estimated production of 15,000,000 eggs in the state spoiling. The loss of the eggs, the
experts say, naturally means the loss of thousands of dollars to the farmers. Dealers and merchants throughout the state already have promised to co-operate in making the state as near "roosterless" as possible for the remainder of the summer. They say they will offer special price inducemenA to get the birds placed on the market. The Purdue chicken fanciers have refused to allow any deferred classifications, reprieves, or commutation of sentences, the only alternative to death for the rooster being solitary confinement until September.
GAVE GRATUITIES, IS CHARGE.
(By Associated Press; WASHINGTON', May 7. Complaint that George Muench, of Stanford. Conn, a manufacturer of machinery, has systematically given employes of customers gratuities, such as liquor, money and valuable presents, was made today by the federal trade commission.

It ia just the thing to wear over the summer dress when one wants to play at work in the garden, The deep pockets 6haped and embroidered to resemble flower pots may be used to carry all sorts of things like seeds, string, sheers, bits of wood for marking and other small tools.
