HIGH TRACK LIEN TO TAKE PART IN TRI-STATE MEET Will x Go to Cincinnati for the Big Meet .which Takes Place on May 4th. . 1
Richmond high school track athletes
will participate in the tri-state meet to be held at Cincinnati, O., Saturday, May 4. This meet is one of the biggest high school events in the central west this year. Richmond high school track and
field men have not been able to practice a great deal this season on ac
count of the cord and wet weather, and what little working out they have done has been on the track and field at Earlham college. There Is a shortage of weight men and It now appears that "Chick" Graffls, captain of the track squad, will have to bear the brunt of this work. Me will also enter the 440 yard run and the pole vault. The outlook Is not at all favorable for all of the best men will be missing from the squad. After the Cincinnati meet the Richmond team will enter the tri-state an-, nual meet which is ,held at Miami University In Oxford, 0. Richmond

sume the offensive with as heavily massed forces as were used , In the previous battles In Picardy and last week in Flanders. Probably they are counting on the artillery to blast a way for smaller bodies of troops, the losses since March 21 in massed assaults, having necessitated economy in man-power. It is not yetlilear whether the renewal of the fighting east of Amiens means another desperate attempt to reach that city or whether the Germans are carrying out attacks on a large front In an endeavor jto straighten out their line. The German positions from Albert south to Montdidier have several small dangerous salients in them and the enemy may desire to wipe them out. Increase In Flanders. There has been some Increase also in the fighting activities in Flanders, especially at the apex of the new enemy salient. The Germans attacked east of Robecq and were repulsed while the British made slight gains west of Merville and around Meteren. Northwest of Festubert, where the new line joins the old, the British have recaptured an advance post, inflicting losses on the Germans. ' Or the Macedonian front, allied troops have gained new local successes in the continuation of the increased activity in this theater. Brit
ish troops west of .Doiran penetrated Bulgarian defenses' on a wido front and In the Cerna bend, French and Serbian troops repulsed enemy attacks. In Albania, west of Lake Presba, allied troops forced the enemy to retire from heights along the Vrba and captured two villages. Relations between Holland and Ger
