Members of Delta Theta Tau sororIty entertained their friends laet evening with an Informal dance In the Omlcron Pi Sigma fraternity rooms. The rooms were decorated with the American and allied flacs. A number of sorority sisters from the Liberty chapter were guests of this chapter. Kolp's orchestra furnished v music for the dancers. Those present were Misses Charlotte Husted, Mildred Page. Vivian Douthlt, Mary Dooley, and Helen Mitchell all of Liberty. Mary Foley, Elisabeth Casey. Hazel Mashmeyer, Miriam Morgan, Mary Williams. Henry Beck, Howard Ball, Earl Hewitt, Clarence Porter. Mahlon Sheridan, Ollie Otten, Mr. Johannlng and Mr. Targar. The party was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Guy Oottrhal, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stanley and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dickinson. . The Home Economics class of District No. 6 'met yesterday afternoon with Mrs. Bessie Stanley at her home northeast of the city. Mrs.' Mary Kenworthy gave a paper on "Household Management and Ptomaine Poison, ins." Mrs. Maude Breese sang a patriotic song which she had composed and Mrs. Elisabeth Pyle read a poem, "The Song of the Flag," written by Mrs. Best of Dayton, O. While the program was being given the members sewed for the Belgian children completing six garments. Three guests, Mrs. Mary Stanley, Mrs. Ora Stanley

and Mrs. Fletcher Elliott were present at the meeting yesterday. Plans were made for a market to be held a week from next Saturday in some down town room. The proceeds will be used to buy yarn and material for Clothes for Belgians. The next meeting in two weeks and all the meetings this summer will be held in Columbia school District No. 6. The Senior Luther League of Trinity Lutheran church will give its annual concert at the church tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock. No admission will be charged but a silver offering will be taken. The following program will be .given: Organ, "Gavotte" (Flagler), Miss Edna Deuker; "Love Song" (Haesche), Miss Marie Deuker; violin, "Mazurka de Concert" ((Musiu) Mrs. Roland Rosa; "Down in the Woodland" (Elgar Bliss), Ladies Chorus; piano a "Prelude" (Rachmaninoff) b. Papillons (Olsen) c "Polanlse" (Paderewski) Miss Marjorie Beck; "Yesterday and Today". (Liszt) and "The Wind" (Spross), Mrs. Clara Igelman, accompanied by Miss Alice Knollenberg; "Nocturne" (Liszt), Mrs. Roland Rosa,-violin; Miss Marjorie Deuker, cello; and Mrs. Edward Minneman, piano. The Standard Bearers of Grace Methodist church will have an oldfashioned box social this evening in the church. The proceeds will be used for missionary work and to buy materials for clothing for French orphans. An invitation is extended to all members of the church and their friends. Three hundred persons attended the Liberty party given last evening by the members of the Sacred Heart society of St Mary's church in the K. of C hall. Euchre was played, the favors going to Mrs. Mary Kleuesner, Mrs. Harman Pardeick. Miss Matilda Feldman, Edward Brepnan, Philip Blrck, . Earnest Charraan, Robert Rone and Felix Cronin. Dancing was enjoyed during the. evening, the music being furnished by Miller's fourpiece orchestra who gave their services free of charge. The proceeds of the party will be used to buy Liberty Bonds for St. Mary's church. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Love, of Greensfork, announces the engagement of their neice, Miss Jessie Secrest to Vernon Braromer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Brammer, .of Richmond. Mr. Brammer Ja engaged in Y. M. C. A. work at Camp Shelby, Miss. Miss Secrest will go to Hattiesburg, May 1, where they will be married. Several hundred invitations have been issued by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kolp for their opening dance at Cedar Springs tomorrow evening. The dance promises to be one of the largest ever held at the Springs and many Richmond persons are planning parties to attend. Kolp's complete orchestra will play. - ; Lewis Hartman left yesterday for Hattiesburg, Miss., where he was called by the serious illness of his son; Howard, who is in the base hospital at Camp Shelby with pneumonia. Mrl Hartman was accompanied by bis son, John Hartman and Sherman Hale.

The Daughters of America will give a reception this evening' in their rooms in the Vaughn building for two of their members. Miss Mary Richardson, who leaves scon for residence in

Springfield, O., and Dr. A. J. Whallon who will report for military duty next week. All members and their families are invited to the reception. Mrs. Ralph Little will entertain members of her knitting club at her home. 301 V4 Main street, tomorrow afternoon, Mrs. Little is entertaining for Mrs. John Schattel. who was to have had the meeting. Middleboro Willing Workers met yesterday afternoon with Mrs. Lulu Kirkman at her home. Twenty-three members were present, including two new. members. Mrs. Cora Jeffries and Mrs. Mary Jeffertes. Severalhospital shirts were completed during the afternoon. The meeting next Tuesday afternoon will be in the Middleboro school. Mrs. Ed Williams and little daughter Susanne, have returned from a week's visit with friends in Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Harry Thompson, of Louisville, Ky., has gone to Dayton, O.. for a few days' visit with relatives and friends. Conrad Younkey. of Spiceland. is the guest of his grandmother, Mrs. Frank Price. Mrs. David Bulger, of Newcastle, is the guest of .Mrs. Henry Smith at her home here. Women of First Baptist church will hold an all-day meeting tomorrow at the home of Mrs. J. W. Ferguson, 121 South Fifteenth street The women will spend the day sewing for the Red Cross. The Recreation circle met Saturday afternoon with Mrs. John Hawley at her home. The responses to roll call were verses about birds. Miss Elizabeth Smelzer gave an interesting paper on "Birds" followed by a bird

census. A short musical program was given. The next meeting will be with Mrs, Aaron Sitloh at her home on April 27. The Missionary society of Second Presbyterian church will meet tomorrow afternon with Mrs. Ella Gartslde at her home, 231 North Seventeenth street at 2:30 o'clock. All members are urged to be present Charles Curtis, son of Mr, and Mrs. E. 8. Curtis, has been transferred from San Antonio, Tex., to the Dayton aviation field. Curtis was sent to San Antonio from Camp Shelby several months ago and last week was sent to Dayton. He will come Saturday to sptnd the week-end with his parents here. Mrs. Lee Turner will entertain the Sunshine Crochet club at her home, 218 North Seventeenth street tomorrow afternoon. Mrs. Alice Graves and Mr. and Mrs. Alice Harney motored to St Marys, O., Sunday where they attended the funeral of a relative.

5236 Conscientious i Objectors in England .(By Associated Press) LONDON, April 24. A report on punishments Inflicted on refractory conscientious objectors in Great Britain show that 5,286 such cases have been dealt with during the period of the war, including 4,680 cases of court-martial for refusal to obey orders. Seventy-two objectors have served sentences of two years hard labor.

Miss Mary M. Roberta, director of nursing for the Lake Division of the American Red Cross, will speak In Richmond, Monday April 29, on the need for nurses in army service. Miss Roberts will address a woman's meeting at Earlham college, a meeting of the high school girls, and will address the students and nurses at Reld Memorial hospital. She will also speak at a general public meeting for women. The American Red Cross society expects to spend approximately 11,750.000 In the construction and equipment of houses for convalescents and houses for nurses at camps and cantonments. The Red Cross workshop is In need of several small tables about two feet wide and three feet long. The workers will appreciate the loan of such tables for the duration of the war.

Nine young women members of the National League of Women's Services are driving as many motor trucks loaded with war supplies from Lansing. Mich., to Atlanta. Ga.
