HORSE DISEASE MAY BE CAUSED : BY IIUNAGENTS Spring Season Farm Work Crippled When. Horses Become Afflicted with Distemper. ' The rapid spread of distemper among horses throughout eastern Indiana, the malady seeming to be centered in Rush county, has given rise to the belief that German agents may be responsible. - The malady, affecting as It does the best horse flesh that is so badly needed in the country's drive for greater farm productiveness this year, creates somewhat, of a crisis in the spring work on the farms. In many cases the horses die of the disease, but even In the milder cases they are rendered practically worthless for several months. ' Veterinarians m Richmond report that there has been a greater spread of distemper in Wayne county this year than existed last season, but believe the disease is entirely due to natural causes. They do not credit the German spyplot.' ' : - In Rush county, where the disease
seems to have taken the worst effect, it is said that hundreds of horses on the farms are disabled, and farmers are In a cerious plight, not knowing how they are going to do their spring work without the -animals ' aid. Instead of greater farm productiveness this year the disease bids well, they say. to cause the opposite condition. An article published Wednesday in the Rushville, (Ind.) Daily Republican, says: "It is believed that the sowing of the germs of the deadly' horse malady is one of the threads of the German spy system." Veterinarians are doing all they can to prevent the further spread of the disease, and preventative measures are being taken. Horses not yet afflicted are being vaccinated, which is said to be a. sure, safe and comparatively inexpensive treatment. All farmers in the section where the disease is located are urged by the -veterinarians to take the vaccination method of preventing' the spread of the malady. Farmers who ind distemper among .their horses should not try to conceal the fact from their neighbors. To sell, trade or otherwise move a stricken animal from the farm where it first became afflicted, is bound to cause a spread of the disease and such action will not be tolerated by the authorities. Aristocrat f Brinks
With its distinctive snappy flavor, its delightful sparkle and delicate bouquet, Apella is truly the great aristocrat of drinks. Apella is a fascinating drink. It is just sweet enough and tart and snappy enough to be wonderfully delightful. It's the sort of drink you love to sip at the cafe, or to chat over with friends at home. The pure unfermented juice of Autumn apples, carefully selected for their flavor, Apella is as healthful as the fine fruit from which it is made. Nothing is added no sugar, no water. Those elements which would identify Apella as cider are removed by a natural process of refining. Apella is made from fresh ripe fruit. No storage apples are used. . Apella is the wonderful new drink with a champagne sparkle and a champagne flavor." Sip it from a wine glass as you would champagne. You'll marvel at its delightful sparkle and distinctive snap and flavor.
