UNFURL SERVICE FLAG TO CENTER TOWNSHIP MEN

Flag Service . Is Given by Soldiers of Civil, Spanish and Present War. CENTERVILLE, Ind., April 9. Tbe town hall was crowded to capacity Sunday when a township service flag, containing 60 stars, was unfurled In honor of the men" who have answered their cvountry's call. Dr. J. J. Rae, of Richmond, made the principal address. Brief talks were made by Mrs. A. W. Roach and Miss Green Ttfe Centervllle band rendered several selections, followed by the Neff quartet. The flag service was given by "Wilson Fouts, veteran of the Civil war; "Spanish-American war: and Floyd Doddridge who is in the quartermaster corps, stationed at Detroit, Mich. In the evening a short service was held at the Christian church when more stars were added to the service flag of the church for the men who recently went into training. . Walter Jones spent the latter part of the week In Indianapolis in business interests. .. .Mrs. Neli Colvin and children, Charlotte and Louise, of Richmond, spent Saturday and Sunway with Mrs. Frances Fender Mary St. Myers and Elizabeth Elwood returned borne Monday after a visit of a few days with their neice, Mrs William Kemp ton. .. .Joseph Zea and family of New Paris were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Meredith A ppointed to Enforce Explosives Law Linus P. Meredith has been appointed chairman of the advisory committee of Wayne county lay the government bureau of mines at tbe recommendation of tbe county council of defense. The duties of the committee shall be to see that tho law regarding explosives Is strictly enforced in Wayne county. Mr. Meredith accepted the appointment, which does not carry any salary whatever, through patriotic motives, and will devote considerable of his time to the work. The following members have been appointed to serve on the committee: John Markley of Jones Hardware company; F. O. Chambers of Miller Bros. ; A. F. Nelson of Boston, and Charles Callaway of Milton.
