DEMOCRATS IN 7 GET-TOGETHER MEETING HERE
Pettis A. Reid Named Tem
porary Chairman of Central Committee.
Harry 0. Strickland of Greenfield, candidate for the congressional nomination on the Democratic ticket In the Sixth district was in Richmond Wednesday night to attend a Ret-together meeting of the party In Wayne township. Tho meeting was an informal affair held In the council chamber at city hall, attended by several of the more prominent Democrats in this township. Amonpr those present. In addition to Mr. Strickland, wore Michael Kelley. clerk of the circuit court, Walter Chambers of Newcastle, and Charles Peck, Richmond postmaster. Mr. Chambers, who was discussed as a 'possibility" for Democratic congressional nomination, delivered a iiort address urging the arty to fill twe entire ticket for the primaries. At present but few Democratic nominees hare filed their declaration of candi dacy and as Saturday is the last day the. law allows, Mr. Chambers urged that immediate action be taken. Democrats said that the entire ticket would be filled before Saturday, Including notf only the county offioas but the minor offices as well. Chambers said that the winning' of the; great war was the pirimary pur
pose or me party to be given the first consideration, and that po!3tics is now n secondary matter. He urged the election of a Democratic ticket next fair, to Wayne county to show that the party stands behind its president. It was moved and seconded that the Democrats of Wayne county hold a convention, and Saturday afternoon was selected as the date. The meeting will be held in the citylliall at 1:30 o'clock. i Pettis A. Reid was named chairman of the Democratic Central committee to serve temporarily until a. permanent clairman is named.
By HAL POD Will Reller tells one on a couple of Richmond attorneys that is too good to keep. As the Etory goes Wilfred Jessup, who used to be in the law business here with Fred White, had been
j invited for the third successive time
to deliver the memorial day address at the big celebration in Jacksonburg. Wilfred was feeling pretty much stuck up about it, and had evidently formed the opinion that the good folk of Jack-
i sonburg considered him somwhat of
an orator to invite him to their fair village on three successive occasions. However, his hard hearted partner in law was unable to see it in the same light, "Listen, Wilfred," remarked Mr. White, "it is not because you are such a classy orator that those farmers have invited you down to Jacksonburg again. The reason is because they haven't
found out yet what you were trying to talk about the first time." William Woodward, a prominent Republican of Jackson township, in asking permission of Chairman Bowman to pass out the cigars at the Republican convention in Cambridge City the other n.'ght, said that though a few of us would probably smoke in the hereafter most of us would like to smoke now.

"Methinks I'll join the army so I can write a book," said Buck Wenger. A New York magazine says that swallows are becoming extinct. We think that since last Tuesday they have been quite extinct in "bonedry" Richmond. Only a memory of a happy day I'll take a cigar for mine. Soon will come the day when j'ou will decide not to paint the house until next fall. Also the day when your next door neighbor will return the snow shovel and ask to borrow the lawn mower. It is expected that business will soon be booming in Eaton, O.
A local colored gentleman who lives up in the northwest end of the city was telling some of his friends he expected soon to join a circus for the coming season. "What you all gwine do in dat cucus?" he was asked. "I'se got a job as lion tamer, boy. Dat's what lis, a lion tamer." "Ah don't think you's no lion tamer, nigger. Ah thinks you's a Iyin fool." It's time to take the germ out of German. Buy a Liberty bond. Every thrift stamp sold buys a nail for the kaiser's coffin. How many nails have you bought, Mr. Richmond man? Mike Kelly wants to know what good it does to lift the ban on meat when the cow's jumping over the - moon again.
A Wayne county farmer claims to have a hen that lays an egg almost every day. Believe us the goose that laid the golden eggs hasn't got anything on that Wayne county lien.

Joe Mills says that it's alright to stand behind Uncle Sain, but don't stand too far behind.
Just as soon as it warms up again the Richmond girls will be putting their furs back on.

Ed says that during the presidential campaign in 1916 a man came into his saloon and aske,d for a glass of bock beer. Ed said that he did not have any bock beer at that season of the year. "Well, what have you got the bock beer sign out for?" asked the prospective customer. Whereupon Ed went out side to see if somebody was trying to slip one over ou him. He came back in laughing. GRANDMA USED SAGE TEA TO DARKEN HAIR
She made up a mixture of Sage Tea and Sulphur to bring back color, gloss and youthfumess.
Common garden sage brewed into a heavy tea with sulphur added, will turn gray, streaked and faded hafr beautifully dark and luxuriant. Just a few applications will prove a revelation if your hair is fading, streaked or gray. Mixing the Sage Tea and Sulphur recipe at home, though, is troublesome. An easier way is to get a bottle of Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound at any drug store all ready for use. This is the old-time recips improved by the addition of other ingredients, i While wispy, gray, faded hair is not sinful, we all desire to retain our youthful appearance and attractive ness. By darkening your hair with Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound, no one can tell, because it does it so natural'', so evenly. You just dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one small strand at a time; by morning all gray hairs have disappeared, and, after another application or two, your hair becomes beautifully dark, glossy, soft and luxuriant. This preparation is a delightful toilet requisite and is not intended.for the cure, mitigation or prevention of disease. Adv. j
