WOMEN ACQUIRE ART OF BOWLING WITH PLEASURE

Flock to the Alleys on Days - That Are Kept Open for Their Use. More top notchers are appearing every day among the woman bowlers at the V. M. C. A. bowling alley. Tim Sprouse, manager of the Y alley started the women to bowling about two months ago. : At that time the women bowled about forty pins each game. Now they have doubled and tripled their scores in many cases. Bowlers became interested in the sport a few years ago when some men proud of their high scores took their wives to the alley to see them throw balls down the alley. Right then the wives decided that they could bowl as well as the men and after a time slipped away and started bowling on their own accord. Where the Sport Started - The first women bowlers started kicking the wooden soldiers into the padded trenches at St. Louis, Detroit, and a few other large cities. Tuesday afternoon the Nusbaums of the women bowling league shut out the Kempers in all three games bowled, rolling scores that are almost as good as the scores of men teams. t Mrs.' Knopf rolled a high score of 158 making a high average of 132, with Smelser second with an average of 115. Manager Sprouse announced Tuesday that he would bold the alley open for the women on two nights each week. These nights are Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Richmond to Send Team to State Y Tourney That Richmond will have a team in the state Y basketball tournament held at Muncie April 4, was announced Wednesday by Secretary Schwan. The men who will report for the state tournament are Monroe, Hayward, guards; Parker, center and captain ; C. Porter, E. Porter. "Eno" O'Neal, forwards. As yet there is some question as to whether Pitts and Shelton, guards, will be able to go into the tournament games on Monday.

The Cleveland club is still trying to secure First Baseman Sheely from the Salt Lake Pacific Coast league club. Sheely is said to be a powerful hitter and a fine normal player, but so far the Salt Lake club has been unwilling to part with him. Manager Fohl, however, has Just released Ivan Howard to the Salt Lake club, and as Howard can play the initial bag Cleveland fans believe that Sheely will open the season with the Indians. Fohl, by the way, has a formidable pitching staff at the training camp. It includes Stanley Coveleskie. Coumbe. Morton, Lambeth, Wilkinson. Enzmann and the veteran Robert Groom. Mordecal Brown of three finger ' fame was all set to manage the Terre Haute club of the Central league when that organization threw up the sponge.

Though he is in the draft Donie Bush of the Tigers doesn't expect to be called for some time, as his number is far down in the list. Furthermore, he is the sole support of a widowed mother and several sisters. Walter Johnson, Griff's star boxman recently was ill, suffering from an attack of the mumps. . Bill McKechnle has returned to his first love. He broke into the National league with the Pirates nearly eight years ago, and now has gone back to them, the Reds having sold his release at the waiver price. McKechnie played with the Yankees soon after leaving the Pirates. Then he leaped to the Feds and became the manager of the Newarks. The Giants signed him in 1916 only to include him with Roush and Matty" in the trade for Herzog. McKechnie was laid up last year with a crippled hand, but the Reds kept him on the pay roll. He demanded too much salary recently and refused to sign, whereupon he was sent back to the Pittsburg club to cover third base unless the hard-hitting Boeckel concludes to acceut Barney Dreyfuss's terms.

nant all winter, the critics want to know what team, barring the Giants, can 6how a more formidable string of hitters than Roush, Groh. Chase. Lee. Griffith, Neale. Magee, Kopf, Clartie and Wingo. Evidently the Porkville wise men haven't seen Lee Magee in harness since he left the Cardinals four yars ago. If this player doesn t hit with better results than when he was a member of the YanKees. Cincinnati fans will be gnashing their teeth long before Decoration Day. Manager John Ganzel of the Kansas City club hopes to land some players from the Giants and White Sox. John knows where to . pick 'em.

Do you sometimes feel like you will scream if you do not get relief from the tormenting and terrifying itching and irritating burning that makes you feel like your very skin is ablaze? Possibly your disorder has not reached the torturing stage as yet, but there are thousands of victims of skin diseases that know too well the well nigh unendurable bain that comes from eruptions, irritations, pimples, boils, ulcers, eczema, psoryasis, carbuncles and the numerous other forms of torment that attack the delicate tissues of the skin. The only proper method of treatment for any disease, is a remedy that will reach its source, that will remove its cause, and not simply palliate its symptoms. Every form of skin ailment comes from a colony of millions upon millions of tiny disease germs that infest the blood. Naturally, then, these germs must be eradicated from the blood before a cure can be expected. You know well enough that

you cannot reach the blood by applying ; lotions, ointments, salves, washes and other local applications to the surface of the skin. So when you use such treatment for your tormenting skin diseases, the most you can expect is a temporary discontinuance of the pain, which promptly returns, and keeps you constantly applying the local remedies, making no progress whatever toward permanently ridding yourself of the disease. Why longer continue such makeshift treatment? Go to your drugs store today and get a bottle of S. S. S., the reliable blood purifier, and being a treatment that will prove satisfactory, as it has to thousands of others who were afflicted just as you have been. S. S. S., has been used for more than fifty years, so that you are not experimenting when you take it. It will promptly . cleanse the blood of every impurity, and rout out entirely every trace of disease germs. Don't continue to suffer, but begin taking S. S. S. today, and write our head physician, who will give you full instructions about your own case. Address Medical Director, 404 Swift Laboratory, Atlanta, Ga. Adv.
