R .11. S. TRACK MEN TRAINING ON REID FIELD Nohr Has Enough Athletes for All Events on the Program.

Athletes of the Richmond high school have turned their attention to

track and baseball work. Twenty-five men are reporting for track work on the Reid Field. Earlham, under the direction of Physical Director Nohr. Nohr announced Friday that all the events were covered, excepting broad and high jumps. ' Last year he said the team was stronger in the field than on the track, but this year seemingly the opposite holds true. The Y. M. C. A. basketball quintet is set for the Greensburg claBh Saturday night at the Y gym. This is the last game of the season before the state Y basketball tourney at Muncie. Coach Schwan is putting his men through a stiff grind this week in preparation for the Greensburg five and the tourney at Muncie. urday night Indianapolis basketball fans will lhave their last chance to see the Em-Roe quintet, as it now is, in action until the war is over. The Em-Roes will wind up the local season by meeting the Sparks Business College team of Shelbyviile, 111., at the Y M. C. A. gymnasium.

The 'Cardinals may begin their preliminary work in the south without one of last year's regular outfielders signed. Tommy Long has been released and Walter Cruise and Jack Smith are holdouts.

INTERUREAN CAR JUMPS SWITCH; NO ONE HURT

A freight interurban car jumped a switch Wednesday night at 10 o'clock at the top of the incline at North Seventh end D streets, knocking down a telegraph pole. Officers of the company said Thursday that the accident was probably due to dust and dirt collecting in the switch which kept it from working properly. No one was injured.

Mallins Wins Checker Tournament at "Y"

Thinking more of marriage than of checkers; Schlauch who was doped to win the Y. M. C. A. checker tourney, lost to Mullins Wednesday. Schlauch was married Wednesday evening. Mullins by defeating H. Gardner won the right to play in the finals 'with Schlaucl-. chlauch usually an excellent checker king man, was an easy victim for Mullins. Mullins now holds the checker championship of the Y, with Schlauch second and H. Gardner third.

EATON, Ohio, March 22. Harry Miller., 46 years old. died at his home near Gratis, following a long illness. His wife and one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Carr, survive. Funeral and burial took place Friday afternoon at Gratis.

Ray Hangs Up Record tor Three-Quarter Mile

NEW YORK, March 22. Joie Ray of the Illinois Athletic club, Chicago,

established a world's Indoor record for

three-quarters of a mile, covering the distance In 3 minutes 4 4-5 seconds at the Commercial Institute games at Madison square here Thursday night. The former record was 3:07 made by Joe Driscoll at Buffalo, March 15, 1913. In an attempt to equal or better the one mile indoor record of 4:16 made by Joynie Overman, Ray continued on around but fell short of beating the record on the mile. He beat the old record by several seconds.
