The sorrow end grief over the loss of her dear companion tnirieen y hore so heavily on the frail body that although she endurea ner sorrow wi.n a fortitude almost beyond understanding, the friends about her could feel that the loneliness and hidden grief A hroken and crushed the brave Mary Calahan. daughter of Timothy Calansn and Elisabeth Buckley, was born May 12, 1845. In Glenvine. Cork rountv, Ireland, and closed her eyes to h iim lia-ht of esrth at her late home in Cambridge City on the afternoon of March 12. 1918.. after a lingering Illness due to heart trouble that baffled all skill. Gradually but surely . the disease crept on until the physical strength could endure no longer and death came In and claimed Its own. On May 15. 1S89. sho was united In marriage to Cornelius Connell in Connersvlllo. Ind. To this union seven children were born, two of whom, a son William and a daughter, Hannah, have preceded tneir mother in death Five loving children are left to pass the remainder of their lives without the Invaluable advice and sweet companionship of a devoted mother. They are Miss Elizabeth an:1 T. J. Connel at home. J. T. and Robert A. Connell on farms near Milton. Ind.. Mrs. John Burke of ind'anapolls. and one brother John Calahan. of Milton. Ind. Mrs. Connell emigrated from Ireland J with her mother, brother and one sister In 1858 and settled In Olendale, Ohio, where she remained until her marriage to Mr. Connell In 1889, when she moved to Wayne county where she resided until a few years after the death of her husband when the responsibilities of farm life proved too heavy for her failing strength and she decided to make her home for her declining years In Cambridge City and be neer St. EUabeth's Catholic church, of which she was a devoted member. Here she made new friends who had learned to appreciate her value. Mrs. Connell was a woman of great fortitude and courage, and when bowed with her sorrow and the Infirmities of age, she always replied to inquiries, 'I am doing very well," and was seldom heard to complain. She was a good friend and neighbor, a true and devoted mother with always the Interest of her family at heart. She came to the community In which . she died, a stranger, but her cheerful disposition, her - loyal friendship and her true worth soon won her a place of promfnence which was her just reward. To the neighborhood she was a

Besides these are a host of relatives, friends and neighbors whose kindly presence and tears of sympathy testify that her life and kindness as a relative, friends and neighbor will ever remain enshrined In their hearts.. Truly shall we miss her, but none more than the sons and daughters who suffer the loss of mother and home. It is Impossible to measure the life of a good woman. The longer we live on this earth and weigh the various qualities of woman, the more we come to admire and mark the life that finds complete recompense In work well done and day uuwasted. Such has been the life of mother. "Though our mother has departed, Still we feel her spirit near. As she kneels before the Heavenly Father's throne. And her prayers our lives shall answer. For we long to meet her there." Services were held at St. Eliabeth's church Saturday morning by Father Gorman. Burial at Riverside.
