Gone all day, to war charities and suffrage meetings, the sweet atmosphere of home is more poignantly dear to them than ever before, they have their men folks' view-point; intensified by their own creative instinct. and it takes but a good eye and clever arrangement to effect a restful whole. Open windows and spring sunlight have "a . way of making winter upholstery look fairly .wheezy and out of humor. A great many more of us will remain in our town houses besause commutation is expensive, and so many of our friends are staying in the city. That leaves the great majority of us, who will stay at home because it is 'absolutely necessary! Let us then, turn to flowered cretonnes and cheerful china, cooling and comforting touches to help through the summer months. - , Periods have been done to death. Isn't it a joy to dress a Queen Anne piece and a Louis Quinze piece up in tailor-made slip covers, and slip them Into the same room? Summer coverings cover a multitude of errors but they afford one an opportunity to achieve masterful effects with small expenditure of money.
