PRICE OF BREAD GIVEN BOOST
At the meeting held in Indianapolis this week of the Advisory Board of the Indiana Association of the Baking Industry and the Food Administration it was demonstrated that the prices bakers have been obtaining for bread was causing them to operate at a loss. Both flour and flour substitutes are very scarce and very high. On account of using substitutes, bread yields; are reduced, all of which adds to the cost of the manufacture of bread. These (acts being amply proven, the following schedule of prices was considered fair to the baker, dealer and consumer. One pound loaf, unwrapped, wholesale, 8'4c; retail, 10c. One pound loaf, bakery wrapped, wholesale, 9c; retail, 10c. One and onehalf pound loaf, unwrapped, wholesale, 13c; retail, 15c. One and onehalf pound loaf, bakery wrapped, wholesale, 13V4c; retail, 15c. Instructions from Mr. Banard are to the effect that the prices above or below this schedule will be considered as unfair practice, and must be promptly dealt with. The sale of bread, and other wheat products, at reduced prices, in order to draw trade on other articles on which long profits are made, was ordered stopped. T'slng cheap bread as an advertisement increases the consumption of bread and must not be tolerated, as the flour shortage s very acute, and only by co-operation can the people of Indiana be supplied with bread until the new crop of wheat is available. The County Food Administrator is advised to deal promptly, that the time for excuses from the bakers is past. Conforming with these regulations, tb wholesale and retail price on bread will be advanced on Monday ac cordingly. H. M'. GILBERT. Food Administrator for Wayne County.
Revelations of a Wife
"SEE YOU LATER" On the other hand. I desired to avoid an open break with Lillian Gale's husband until at least the afternoon at their home should be over. So I tried to make my voice less angry, as I said: "Mr. Underwood, you are talking the most arrant nonsense. You may mention anything to Dicky wou wish. I have nothing to conceal from him. By the way, is he at your home now? He asked me to call him up there. It must be past your dinner time, is it not?" To my great relief he dropped his mocking tone, and became the courteous gentleman he could be when It pleased him to play the role. "Play the role" to my mind were just the words to use. Harry Underwood had only the veneer of a gentleman. Underneath I felt that he was composed of very coarse material. "Yes, Dicky is at our place," he said. "He was there when I left. I had to go out on an errand, and Lil agreed to hold dinner for me a few minutes. Shall I tell her you are coming over, or no, better not let them know I have seen you." "I will telephone her myself immediately." I said, ignoring the way he as trying to establish an understanding between us about the events of,
the morning. "Very well. I'll see you then, later,
Goodby," and he hung up the receiver.

I hung up my own receiver, and after a moment took it down again. "Chelsea Sfi4." I said in answer to central's request for "number." Whether Dicky nag still angry or not, I felt that I could not wait another minute to hear his voice. Why Madge 'Phoned for Taxi "Hello! Who is this? Mrs. Graham, how do you do? I do hope this means you are coming to us right away." Mrs. Underwood's loud voice boomed heartily in my ears. Whatever else Lillian Gale may or may not be, she Is always comfortable. She carries with her an iiir of good-will nnd wish-to-be-of-service that is really quite Irresistible. "Thank you," I replied, "I shall be over shortly, I think." I hesitated a moment. I did not quite like to ask for Dicky, yet he had told me to call him up at Lillian's when I had returned from my dinner with my cousin. Jack Blckett. Lillian solved the problem for me. "Here is Dicky waiting to talk to you." she said. "I'll speak to you again when he is through talking." 1 trembled violently in the interval between Lillian's leaving the 'phone, and Dicky's taking up the receiver, When he had left me to go to Lillian's he had been furiously angry because I was going to dine with Jack although I had not seen my cousin for a year. What would be his attitude now? "Hello. Madge. Where are you at home? Do you want me to come for you V" The words were friendly enough, hut at the tone my heart sank. I knew he had not yet forgiven me for dining with Jack. Rut, at least he had recovered his poise sufficiently to play the game before the Underwoods. I did not need to dread one of Dicky's scenes if I went to their home. "How absurd. Dicky," 1 replied. "Of course you are rot coming for me. What is that address again, and what is the nearest subway station?" "Don't be an idiot, Madge, just because you know how," retorted Dicky. "Take a taxi over. You'd be wandering around subway stations for the rest of the afternoon. The number is 104 West Eleventh Street. Here's Lil, wants 1o speak to you again."

Dear Mrs. Thompson: I do filing in an office. When I started to work the office boy, who is but nineteen but looks younger, showed me how to do a great many things. I appreciated his kindness, because there was a redhaired girl in the office who would
not show me anything and she was very mean. I was always pleasant to this boy, thinking that he was fourteen or fifteen. He now tries to make dates with me because I am only nineteen, too. I would -not go to places with him because I do not like him in that way and he looks very young. I stili do not like to hurt his feelings, but I have refused his invitations every time. What shall
I say the next time he asks me to go somewhere so that he will not ask me again? DOUBTFUL. Tell him that you cannot go with him it is not best to have too intimate friendships with your business associates. My Dear Mrs. Thompson I am twenty-seven years of age and have been married five years. We have one child. During the first years of our married life my husband mistreated rrje shamefully, abusing and neglecting me. 1 left him once, but returned at his urgent request and pleading, only to find his promises broken. In this way my love was killed, but my husband always insisted I would love him again with good treatment. For three or four months he has done better and I have tried to help him, but I cannot bring myself to love him as I did. Recently he has told me he does not care for me and has asked me to leave him. He was not angry at the time and I think he means it. I have a home where I can go and be welcome. What would you advise? Tf I go will I have the custody of our baby? It would be well to consult an attorney before leaving your husband. Learn definitely whether or not you will be given the custody of your child. I think you will have no trouble whatever, but you do not want to run any risk. Be sure that you do not get a lawyer who will charge you a great deal. It might be well to talk to the judge of the probate court and learn from him the name of a reliable attorney.
miss these two. A girl of your age should not think seriously about boys anyway. Dear Mrs Thompson: I have been going with a boy who is in the army now. He wants me to marry him before he goes to France. I love him and I know I would regret it, but I a monly eighteen and my mother says I am too young. What i3 your opinion? J. D. Your mother is right. You are too young.
