Tuesday Is meatless day . Instead of meat use cheese, nuts, eggs, milk, cereals beans and peas. There are many good ways to cook them. They give you body building material ' for which you' eat meat largely protein and a lot of it Protein is the body building material and is needed by every one, especially children. But if there are other things besides meat which have an equal amount of protein, why not use them and help save a fighting material?

Mrs. David Pegg. were pleasantly surprised yesterday at their home by a number of persons from Winchester. The company came with well-filled baskets and at noon a dinner was served. Those in the party were Philip Ueltz. ' Jr., of Hattiesburg, Miss.. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Leslie, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heltz and two daughters. Helen and Rozena, Mr. and Mrs. Philip and son, Clarence, and Miss Susan Smith, all of Winchester. Th party returned home last evening. Mrs. Charles Druitt will go to Indianapolis; Wednesday to attend a stats conference of women to plan for the Liberty Loan drive.. Mrs. Alice Foster McCulloch. chairman of the state women's Liberty Loan committee, will have charge of the- meeting. A luncheon will be given at the Claypool hotel at 1 o'clock when addresses will be given by well-known women of the state. Mrs. Druitt is Wayne county chairman of the women's Liberty Loan drive. Miss Alexlne Wellencamp of New York city who is the bouse guest of Mrs. Philip Robbins, was guest of nonor at an Informal luncheon this noon given by Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Bailey at their home on North Twelfth street. This evening. Mr. and Mrs. Robbins will give a dinner at their home ' for Miss Wellencamp. Miss Wellencamp is a member of the "Oh Boy" company, playing here this

evening.

The Woman's Auxiliary of St. Paul's Episcopal church will hold their regular monthly meeting tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the parish house. , ..The Aftermath club will meet tomorrow afternoon with Mrs. Gertrude Hill at ber home on South Eighteenth street. The Domestic Science club will meet Wednesday afternoon in the Westcott hotel. Mrs. . Allen D. Hole will give an article on "Household Finance." Hiss Lydia Shumard of Kokomo and Charles Bourne of this city were united in marriage at 5:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the bride's home, 111 South Ninth street. Rev. Mrs. Malinda Cooney is Dead at Centerville

CNTERVILLE, March 4. Mrs. Malinda Cooney,. 65 years old, died Sunday morning at her home here from acute heart trouble. She was the widow of Charles Cooney, a civil war veteran. The following sons survive: Quiller, of Topeka, Kas.; Elmer, Anderson; Lovell, Weatherford. Okla., and Clinton, of Centerville. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 oclock at the Methodist church, Rev. O'Connor officiating.
