ROOSEVELT DEAF IN HIS LEFT EAR, QUITS HOSPITAL The Colonel Is Determined to Fill Speaking Engagements, ! However. NEW YORK, March 4. The condition of Col. Theodore Rooeevelt, who for tome time has been a patient at Roosevelt hospital, has progressed bo favorably that the former, president today left the hospital to take up quar ters In a local hotel. Here, it Is ex pected. he will remain for several days under the observation of hli physician, and if his convalescence continues as It has for the last week he will go to his home in Oyster Bay. In1 the announcement made at the hospital today concerning Col. Roos velt's condition the fear was expressed that he may be permanently deaf, hi his left eat as a result of the operation he has undergone. His physicians added that it will be necessary for Col. Roosevelt to rest as much as possible for a fortnight in order that he may recover fully. Will Speak in Maine . " Col. "In other words, It will be some months before he will recover complete control of equilibrium, or before he will cease to find himself dizzy at a quick or unexpected motion. PARIS. March 4. The arrest of the actress, Sumey Depsy, who has played a minor role 'at Sarah . Bernhardt' s theatre, on charges of maintaining relations with the enemy, has caused a sensation, because' of the important connections of her alleged accomplices. One of them, an Austrian named Rosenberg, who - was prominent on the Paris Bourse and whose Paris bank la undet sequestration, fled to Switzerland at the opening of hostilities. He organized a bank and Information bureau at Zurich In association with another Austrian named Bettelheim, according to the Matin. 1 The newspaper says Mathias Erzberger, a member of the German Feichstag, had a large account with the firm and drew heavily on It to carry on a propaganda in Switzerland. William A. Bond was appointed special judge Monday in the divorce suit of Myron W. Davenport against Anna Marguerite Davenport. The change of Judge was asked by the defendant. .
Witnesses from Three Towns Before Jury Witnesses from Dublin, Cambridge City and Fountain City were called before the grand jury for examination Monday. Several persons from theItalian colony in Richmond were also examined during the day. It is thought the session of the grond jury will extend over several more days.
