FARMERS URGED TO SEND CARDS IN BY MONDAY

Only 812 Have Returned Information in Labor and : Grain Poll.

- Only 812 farmers out of 2.300 in Wayne county hare returned their cards in the labor and grain poll of the county being taken by Demonstration Agent Zechiel. Zechlel Thursday announced the number returned in each township. The returns must b tabulated and in the hands of the state organization by March 6 and Zechlel is displeased at the small proportion of farmers who have filled out their cards. tion Agent Zechiel is displeased at the small proportion of farmers who have filled out their cards. "It is up to the fanners to get awake." he said. "This information is of vital. importance to the entire agricultural industry and it is to their interest to return as complete a poll as possible." Must Be in Monday. Cards may be turned in up to Monday night. The numbers of cards supplied by the various townships follows: Abfngton, 85: Washington. 3 4 :'i : Perry. 75; Boston. 82; Harrison, 50; Franklin, 43; New Garden. 93; Wayne, 130; Center, 5; Webster, 54; Clay, 25; Jackson. 5; Oreene, 15; Dalton, none. The seed corn situation in the country will be partially alleviated by the carload of seed corn which has been obtained for farmers by Zechiel. Zechlel is to be in Richmond Saturday, and will have on display at the county schocl superintendents office; samples of the corn which has been obtained. Th,e corn probably will be

shipped to one farmer In the county to be distributed from one point. The supply of seed corn which may be obtained will only provide a small percent of that which la needed, according to Zechlel. In order to plant the corn acreage in the county 16,000 bushels of seed corn will be needed, and about one-third of that amount can be obtained from the farmers themselves.

The total number of licenses for the month was thirty-three, which is the average number issued in peace times. . The great war did not have much effect upon the domestic ones, according to the divorce figures for the month. Seven suits for divorce were filed during February and four divorce decrees were granted.

Purdue's Queen Lays 260 Eggs in Year for Title LAFAYETTE, Ind Mar. 1. Purdue's Queen, a barred rock hen, now two years old. is the champion egg layer of the state, according to records available at Purdue University. Last year this bird laid 260 eggs, which means that on only forty-five days of the year, not including Sundays and bankers holidays, she failed to add her mite to the nations food supply. Purdue's Princess, a sister of Purdue's Queen, laid 234 eggs last year, with the remarkable record of 30 doys without missing her chance to lay an egg.- Several times she went more than 25 days without missing laying, but the hot weather last summer kept her average below that of her sister. Both birds were hatched in March 1916. laid their first eggs the following November, continued through the winter and also through the recent severe cold spell, Prof. A. G. Phillips, head of the poultry department said.
