"doing your bit about your knitting. Dear Mrs. Thompson: We are two girls eighteen years of age. U) We have noticed in a magazine where two soldiers would like to have girls write to them. Do you
If so, what should we write? (2) We are corresponding with two out of town boys three years our senior. They have sent us their piceures and have asked for ours in return. Should we do likewise, as we know they are respectable young men? PATRIOTS. (1) According to war conventions It is all rieht to correspond with soldiers whether you
know tbtm or not. I do not advise it. however, unless you have a way of knowing t!,e character of the boys. Sometimes a boy asks his girl friends to write to some boy who is not getting any mail. In such a case It is all right to do so. In writing tell in what way you are your Rod Cross work or your payments on a Liberty bond. Ask questions, too, so that the boy can tell yo i nbout his camp life and his spirit in the wnr. His letter will be interesting and-instructive if you draw him out on subjects you want to know mor about. (2) Girls should not exchange pictures with boys. It is a bad practice, because after the friendship has broken up it is best for the girl not to have photographs of herself distributed among her boy friends. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a girl fifteen years old and I have a friend who serms n!c when no other girls are around, but when there are other idrl he acts mean. She slapped me in the face at school the other day. No other children live out our way end we are the only people who have a ham. Aiter school she walked
home my way and she w-as so nice to me and she asked to come over to my place. I wouldnl say she couldn't. I told my big sister bow she acts. My sister was angry. Sunday she came over and we had lots of fun, because she was nice to me. When lunch time came she had to go home and she told us what a nice time she had had. My sister went right at her and told her what she thought of her. Should I keep company with her? What do you think of her? OPAL. The little girl Is like many other thoughtless and selfish children. You are probably a quiet, gentle little girl and art not es active in a crowd as some others. She is easily Influenced by others and so when shp is with girls who are stronger leaders than you are she does what they want her to. She will respect you more and so will tbfi other girls if you refuse to bo imposed upon. After she has been mean to you and then asks to eome over, tell her that she is not a friend or she would stand by you through everything and you want only friends to come to your home. Drop her entirely unlets she can be kind. Dear Mrs. Thompson: (1) I have brown hair, blue eyes and a rather dark compiexion. What colors can I wear well? (2) Is it wrong to write to soldier boys whom you have never seen? GEN'EVIVA, (1) Shades of blue would be becoming to you. (2) Since our young men have gone to fight for the cause of liberty, conventions have changed and it is not considered wrong for girls to write to them even though not acquainted. It would be better, though, if you knew something about him as a sort of reference of good character.

BREWERS ARC FINED
LONDON, Feb. 13. Two partners in a brewery firm were recently fined $1,000 for brewing several hundred barrels of beer in excess of thir output allowance. At Halstead, Essex, police court a farmer was summoned for
feeding flour to pigs. His defense was that it was more in the interests of the Nation that barley should be used for feeding atock than for making beer. The case was adjourned for a fortnight.
