The following statement Tuesday
was submitted by the Y. M. 0. A. war work committee: There has recently been a campaign for raising money for the Y. M. C. A. war fund. The amount apportioned to Wayne County was over-subscribed 14,987.69. Hence the local . campaign may be considered a success. The community will no doubt be In terested In the following analysis of the way the money was raised, tho amount subscribed by each township or district, and the number and amounts of the different subscriptions. This information is given as follows: Townships Apportionments Subscribed

The total number of all subscribers in Wayne county was 4,716. The total population of the county Is a little less than 50,000 hence about one in ten Rave to this fund which we believe Is a pood average. If this campaign to raise 'noney for different war purposes were the only one necessary, the foregoing analyses would be of no benefit. Put since there will be others the- experience in this Instance will no doubt he helpful In future campaigns. Each community and for that matter each Individual should analyze his money slvlng rower. These war donations are almost as necessary as paying taxes. No community or individual should desire or try to escape bearing his proper portion of what is deemed necessary for the comfort and woll being of the soldiers who are fighting our battles. Each community should so far Jin possible see that the burden Is properly distributed. If everyone w'l' give according to his ability, the burden will not he unbearable far any one. These analyses ought 'to help each community d?cido: first, whether the proper number of people have subKrfbed and, second, whether they
have given, amounts in accordance with their several abilities. We desire to call attention to the f.reat obligation of the community at large to the people who do the soliciting. Soliciting la necessary work and those doing it are making a sacrifice both In time and labor. Their uneelflsh efforts should be appreciated and applauded. In this last campaign there were 4,716 subscribers and practically all of them were solicited. A few required a great deal of time, many explanations, and some urging before subscriptions were mnde. It is well to consider the time and effort expended In having this fund subscribed. We consider it our duty to call attention also to tho fact that after the fund is subscribed It generally takes considerable labor and expense to collet It. More Fubfcribers puld cash vt the time of subscribing in this present campaign than ever bsfore. It Is earnestly requested that those who have not paid do so an ear'v as possible and in this way lessen 'he labor of those responsible for its eollection. This and similar campaigns are community works of love for our soldiers. They provide the only way we have ac a community of helping nnd showing interest in our fighting nen. The burden of giving and collecting should be distributed as much as possible. We desire to tender o'jr s'neere thanks to the campaign managers, to the solicitors, to the subscribers, and to everyone who has In any way con-

NO RESISTING LIL We finished the sandwiches, piled them daintily upon my prettiest china plates and covered them carefully with napkins. "What next?" demanded Lillian. "The next thing is to prepare some sort of supper for you people," I said, stretching my hand to ring the bell for Katie. She caught my hand before I could touch the bell. ' v"Supper for us!
