Baxter, a Lynn boy, a High school graduate, and also a Purdue man, former head of the Arkansas Drainage survey, as a civil engineer, has been commissioned captain of the Engineers corps at Little Rock, Ark. His examination qualified him to the appointment. He had previously concluded for the government a survey of the northwestern section of Arkansas. Alfred R. Hiatt, son of the hardware merchant, in a letter from Purdue where he is studying as a civil engineer, said six of the students had gone to the Engineers corps, but that he had been persuaded to finish his course. Chester A. Coleman, a graduate of the High school here, who has been in the officer's training camp at Fort Collins, Kas., informed his parents by letter Saturday that he had been commissioned a first lieutenant. A record was established by the High school juniors in tl.e ticket sale at the Empire theatre for their Thanksgiving day play selling out the house in 40 minutes. The play netted $79,45 to the school library fund. Residents who could not get admission to the theatre are now asking for a second performance. The money wfli go to purchase library books. A. R.
