QUAKERS DRILL HARD FOR GAME AGAWBUTLER Coach Lewis' Men Have Little Confidence in Butler "Bear" Stories.

"Beat Butler" is the cry that has been adopted by Earlham football rooters who will go to Indianapolis Saturday morning 100 strong, to witness the Earlham-Butler grid clash on the Butler field. Coach Lewis completed a hard week's practice Thursday night and except for Howard Mills, who is still badly crippled up, the entire strength of the varsity squad will be able to play in Saturday's game. Members ofthe Earlham team are taking little stock in the numerous bear" stories that have been floating out of the Butler camp and have been working steadily all week to throw off the sluggishness that marked the contest with Wittenberg last Saturday. Butlerites have been claiming that their team is severely crippled and that three of the varsity men are out of the game, but Coach Lewis is planning to keep his men In such condition that they w ill be able to defeat tne Butler varsity even through the three regulars are in the game. The team will leave for Indianapolis Saturday morning and through the effort's of Baker, the school yell leader, a special carload of Quaker rooters

v. ill accompany the maroon and white rooters in their final game of the season away from home. The line-up of the Earlham team has not been announced by Coach Lewis.

An amendment to the constitution of .the Richmond High school, which will give school letters, to all members of tennis teams that participate in interscholastic tournaments, has been proposed by Physical Director Nohr, and has been posted for student comment. Heretofore no "R's" have been awarded to tennis men and the only benefit to the students has been the "glory" of winning. Under the plan of Mr. Nohr, the "R" will be awarded to the members of the team that defeated Anderson High school tennis team at the playgrounds on September 21. The new amendment will be voted on by the school board of control at its

December meeting.

Sport Snapshots

While many are regarding the grand old days at Carlisle when Jim Thorpe was playing the- greatest football any one man had played ' before or since it should be remembered that Thorpe is still on the gridiron and playing football as gorgeously as ever before. While it's true that professional football has never had quite the glory of the amateur game to one who admires mere athletic skill there is nothing finer to see than Jim Thorpe tearing through the opposition with his Canton professionals. Thorpe may not be the greatest ball player in the game, but his wonderful football ability has not faded.
