Howard Mills is also out of I the game, but it is doubtful whether' I he will be in condition to workout j sufficiently to play next Saturday. ) Butler will not have any great handl- ; cap of weight, for the Christians have ' the lightest team that has represented ! the school in years,1 aud the 156 pound 1 Quaker team will find opponents that will more evenly match their size i than any other team that has been put ; in against the team this season. Three Butler Men Out Three varsity men at Butler, including Captain Agnew, will be unable to play against Earlham, and Coach Thomas may have to weaken his line to obtain men to fill their places. Coach Lewis will drill his men hard this week in an effort to inject a little "pep" into the squad. The entire team lacked the fighting spirit that would have meant victory over Wittenberg last Saturday, and every possible
effort will be made to eliminate the sluggishness from the team before the Butler game. Plans are being made at Butler for a home coming celebration for the Quaker game, and Earlham plans to increase the crowd at the game with a epecial car filled with Earlham rooters.

Poor Health May
Take Coach, Stagg From Chicago V.
CHICAGO, Nov. 13-Thero Is a report around the Midway camp that Coach Alonzo Stags will retire at the end of the present season. Nothing
definite In the way of confirmation of
this report could be obtained today, but it is estimated by those In close touch of the great football coach that after this year's work Staesr will re-
ire from his present position as di
rector of the University of Chicago athletic team. - As a result of his health, It is said that Stagg has been advised to refrain from the hard work of the gridiron. Stagg has not been in the best of health for some time. Pat Page may be groomed to take up the reins of the Midway when ' Stagg steps down. . .' As coach of the Maroons, Stagg has been a leader in Western athletics for years. The wizard of the Midway, as he has been called, has turned out winning teams when the material he had was far from championship caliber. Coach Stagg has worked day end night to accomplish results and this has been a tax on his strength.
Dream Makes Author. A well-known dream In which the facte are vouched for is that of R. L. Stevenson. This popular writer could dream when b liked, and could complete an unfinished dream of the previous night. According to Mr. James Payn, himself a famous author, Stevenson bad a nightmare of a dual personality, and on that basis wrote the novel of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." Tit-Bits.

Catherine Flaherty, a seventeen-year-old San ' Francisco . glrL Is the latest addition to the ranks of swimming stars to land In the limelight In a recent open water swim she civered three and one-half miles in 1143:10. In this race Miss Flaherty is credited by friends with having swam a mile in 29:00, which betters the national record of Thelma Darby, the Indianapolis fourteen-year-old maid, of 31.00, or the former attested record of Claire GalUgan of New York of 31:19 3-5, over a 110 yard tidal water course. Mis Flaherty came to the notice of the critics less than six months ago when she competed In a number of long distance events - in San Francisco bay. Having failed to drive his way into an American league penant on his
first trial as a big league manager, Jack Barry, leader of the Red Sox, may be depended upon to begin a rebuilding of the team If the war is over when the 1918 season rolls around. Starting in with his veterans, many many who have helped send hopes of the opposition toppling probably will feel the ax. It would not be at all surprising to see at once a shakeup that will involve the outfield and xarts of the infield. The great pitching staff that has labored for Boston in past years is practically intact, so much so that tampering with it would be sufficient to raise a storm amon gthe Hub fans. The navy is represented by two powerful football elevens -one at the Boston navy yard and the other at the Newoprt training station. The
Boston eleven, headed by Eddie Casey, the former Harvard star, defeated Percy. Haughton's Camp Devens team 28 to 0, at Cambridge recently. , The Newport eleven, .led by Cupid Black, the former Yale capain, swamped the Maine Artillery 39 to 0, in the New Haven bowl. Why not match the Boston and Newport sailors? They should provide a red hot battle for the benefit of the Red Cross or some other war charity. By all means, get together and settle the question of supremacy. Do you really believe that you can play golf? Are you the proud possessor of a trophy which denotes that you have performed the supreme feat of making a hole in one stroke some time in your life? Back up. M. J. Brady of the Siasconset Golf Club, has you whipped to a frazzle. Play
ing with L. Lellier In a recent tournament at Siasconset Brady lowered the course., record by turning in a card of sixty-eight strokes ' for : eighteen boles. Brady's sensational stunt was to shoot two holes on the same' round In one stroke each.; The first hole was one of 165 yards, the second 147 yards. The former record along this line was held by Fred Poole, the old Yale catcher, who played the sixth hole at the old Allston course, Boston, In one shot on two successive rounds'. Rogers Hornsby. the Cardinals' great shortstop, has notified Branch Rickey that he must have a salary of $10,000 next year. Hornsby does not relish the departure of Miller Huggins from St Louis. "I would have
signed a blank contract for Huggins and he could have filled in my salary," said Hornsby the other day. "But as Huggins has gone I have lost sentiment. Baseball in future is a cold business proposition with me, and If Rickey wants me to play with the Cardinals next season he must agree to pay me $10,000." Rickey has made no reply to Hornsby's ultimatum. ,

9SPITAL BOARD THANKS SMITHS
The following resolution was unanimously adopted by the Executive committee and advisory board of the Wayne County Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis: : "This society believes that it expresses tho universal sentiment of this community in declaring its deep appreciation of the munificent gift of Clarissa L. Smith, the widow of George H. Smith and of Mr. and Mrs. David. Esteb, his son and daughter, whereby tho beautiful and commodious dwelling and productive farm, known, as Smithfield has become the property of the county for use as a tuberculosis hospital substantially without cost to our community. "There can be no more useful purpose to which a property of this kind could be dedicated than the prevention and cure of the disease which every year is decimating our poulation, taking the lives which are most promising and valuable.
"We feel that we cannot to highly prize nor properly express the gratitude which out county owes to its generous benefactors. It will long re

LET'S HAVE BASEBALL DURING THE WINTER
Baseball fans who Have attempted to keep box scores of ball games will agree with Judge Piatt of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., that a man who can keep a dean box score is sane enough to be paroled from an asylum. After being confined for 18 years in Matteawan, Harry Marx made application, to the judge for release. As part of his proof that he had regained his mental faculties, he presented to Judge Piatt proof of his ability to keep a box score.
A Drop On a Touchy Corn Instant tellefl Then corn or callus lift off with fhtsprs.
Just think! You can lift off any corn or callus without one twinge of pain. A Cincinnati man discovered this ether compound ahd named it freestone. Any druggist will sell a tiny bottle of treesone for very llttla cost. You apply a few drops directly upon a tender corn or callus. Instantly the soreness disappears, then shortly you will find the corn or callus so loose that you can lift It right off. Freetone is wonderful. It dries instantly. It
doesn't eat away the corn or callus, but shrivels it up without even irritating the
Hard corns, soft corns, or corns between the toes, as well as painful calluses, lift right off. There is no pain before or afterwards. No sorenesB or smarting
