Picture of Frayne Brings Old Memories To Richmond Writer

The photograph of "Hugh Frayne, the labor representative on the national board of ; war industries, in The Palaldlum Thursday, was an agreeable surprise to a Richmond newspaper man, Charles D. Hemming. Its publication recalls the days of the late Chief Arthur, head of the Brotherhood of Engineers, and John Mitchell, president of the United Mine Workers, and now a commissioner of labor. Frayne and Hemming were- inseparables. Frayne was a writer for the Labor Herald, of Scranto, Pa., and Hemming was editor of the Railroad Employes Journal. These two men were sixteen years ago engaged in the not too often pleasant task of conserving the interests of employers and employe. Frayne took many prizes ia United States competitions on economic questions. Hemming took the Union labor essay prize and one for

the best essential of a coal mine. But it was not public work alone that endeared both men to the railroad end labor men of Pennsylvania. Both were singers, dancers, monologuists, and had managed park amusements. They, were always ready to help out

entertainments for the B. L. E., and for the various unions of the state. And what was more each wrote his own local skjts. Chief Arthur of the B. L. E. is dead but his work lives in the federated board of the brotherhoods of railroad

men. John Mitchell is carrying oi this work of federation. Hugh Frayn is conserving the interests of capita and labor. And Hemming is still th railroad men's friend in Richmond grinding away at the desk of thi "great unpaid." .

The pure unfennented juice of selected Autumn apples, Apella is clarified and made to sparkle and bubble like the finest champagnes. The taste is delightful. Apella is just sweet enough and just tart enough to fascinate you. It is healthful as the apples from which it is made. Do not confuse Apella with cider. Rather, compare it with champagne, the great aristocrat of drinks, for Apella has A. Champagne Sparkle - A Champagne Flavor One sip of this wonderful new drink .41 . .
