Why don't Doc tell why he sold the City Light Plant bonds at par on a long term when Bavis sold the short term refunding bonds at $700.00 premium? Are Doc and his big backers afraid to discuss city affairs? His record indicts him and by silence he pleads Guilty. Did Doc waste $16,000 of the taxpayers money to make his books show a false surplus? Bavis' says he did. If not why don't he deny the charge? His record convicts him. He dare not answer. $1 6,000 is twice the salary of mayor for a full term. For every dollar paid Doc for services he wasted by neglect of duty two dollars of the taxpayers' money, paying the banks interest on money illegally borrowed to cover up a deficit and to show a false surplus. Some record for a business administration. About $182,000 is paid to the city each year for taxes. $16,000 was wasted in four years by Doc. Over 2 of every dollar paid by the taxpayers was spent by Doc for bluff and show to deceive the public. Who got the money? The big financial interests who are now supporting him. Do you want more of this kind of business? . Doc's record shows he worked one hour each day for the city while mayor. The salary is $2,000 per year. 310 working days or 3 1 0 hours at 6.45 per hour.
Doc refusesf to promise to let the mayor's office interfere with his private business. Doc failed to answer the questions asked by Central Labor Council. Why? Was he afraid to go on record and let the laboring man know where he stands? Party platforms and politics are confined to state and national issues. There is no party platform in any party providing for local city affairs. The best qualified man should win regardless of party 'politics. Does the city need a professional politician with a bad record or an industrious intelligent citizen with a good record for mayor? Party politics debauches city affairs and distributes the spoils in the payment of political debts, makes for waste and extravagance and the man in power says the people be damned. I am boss. Eight years ago whon Doc was last elected mayor he demanded of all appointees their undated written resignations before appointment to be accepted by him at will. How is this for "Bossism?" No wonder he could issue bonds illegally to cover up his extravagance in office. Doc has permitted no other Republican to be nominated for Mayor in the past 20 years. How much longer will the Republican Party stand for this boss? The election of Bavis insures an intelligent administration and a square deal
