Opening figures which ranged from a shade off to o advance with Dec $1.12 to $U.3 and May $1.08 to $1.08, were followed by materialy gains all eround. SALTS IS FINE FOR KIDNEYS, QUIT MEAT Flush the Kidneys at Once When Back Hurts or Bladder Bothers Meat Forms Uric Acid. No man or woman who eats meat regularly can make a mistake by flushing the kidneys occasionally, says a well-known authority. Meat forms uric acid which clogs the kidney pores so they sluggishly filter or strain only part of the waste and poisons from the blood, then you get sick. Nearly all rheumatism, headache, liver trouble nervousness, constipation, dizziness, sleeplessness, bladder disorders come from sluggish kidneys. The moment you feel a dull ache in the kidneys or your back hurts or If the urine is cloudy, offensive, full of sediment, irregular of passage or attended by a sensation of scalding, get about four ounces of Jad Salts from any reliable pharmacy and take a tablespoonful In a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon Juice, combined with lithia. and has been used for generations to flush clogged kidneys nd stimulate them to activity, also to neutralize the acids In urine so it no longer causes bladder disorders. Jad Salts is inexpensive and can not Injure; makes a delightful effervescent llthia-like drink which all regulr meat eaters should take now and then to keep the kidneys clean and the blood pure, thereby avoiding serious kidney complications. ELEVATOR MEN PLEASED WITH GRAINMLES Say They Are Taken Out of Speculators' Claws News of Straughn. 8TRAUQHN, Ind, Oct 16 Elevator men here are agreed on the rules laid down by the government which they say takes them out of the speculator's hands. Some 1,400 bushels of wheat have been shipped of late, with 2,200 of oats. By moving three cars of grain last week fanners now can bring grain to the elevator. Guy Hendricks of this section had a splendid yield of tomatoes on 18 acres. The ground has been cleaned and seed wheat Is being cleaned for sowing. The cannery people have derived much help from farmers here.
FRIENDS' BOARD Continued From Page One. braska enacted the desired legislation. The board then turned its attention to securing legislative protection from Congress. Two bills were submitted to each house of Congress, one making it unlawful to register a trademark for articles of commerce in the name cf a denomination or religious body; the other prohibiting Interstate commerce in all articles bearing the name cf a denomination or religious body. The report adds: "Hearings were had before the various committee having these bill in charge and there we met the active opposition of the attorneys of the Quaker Oats Corporation and a Quaker Lace firm of Philadelphia. While privately many members of Committees and of Congress admit freely that the Society of Friends is entitled to the relief sought, we have been unable thus far to secure favorable reports from the committees. It appears to be a question of conscience against commercial greed and thus far commercialism is triumphant "While to some this may seem a trivial matter, it seems clear to the Board, since it is impossible for Friends to repudiate the name "Quaker," that to the extent the term is used by Friends or others, Its religious significance should be legally guaranteed, and not degraded with the stamp of commercialism upon ever hand. It has come to pass already that there are persons who believe that Friends themselves are capitalizing the Quaker Dtme for their own personal profit, and it would not be surprising if we could find many, upon hearing mention of the name "Quaker," who are In doubt whether it has reference to a body of Christian believers or to "Quaker Whiskey," "Quaker Beer," "Quaker Cigarettes," "Quaker Onions," "Quaker Lace," "Quaker Ranges," "Quaker Oats," or some one of a growing and almost interminable list of other so-called "Quaker" articles now upon the market throughout the world."
