NIGHT SCHOOL OPENING IS SET FOR OCTOBER 1

Night school will open Monday, October 1. Registration -will be Monday and Tuesday and regular classes will begin the following week. K. V. Carman will be director of the school. A number of new courses will be offered this year to both men and women. The new courses are in line with the general conservation and utility movement which is prevalent. Courses will be offered for metal machine operators, machinists, sheet metal operators, moulders and foremen, wood machine operators, cabinet makers and assemblers, tool makers, blacksmiths, automobile workers, printers' apprentices, building contractors, plumbers, carpenters and show card writers. Must Be 17 Years Old. A special course in telegraphy for men of military age and others will also be given. In all of these courses only persons over 17 will be allowed to enter. High School Emptied in Four Minutes in . First Fire Drill
The first fire drill of the year was held at high school Thursday morning. The building was emptied in four minutes. There are 710 pupils in school. Principal Bentley said he was well pleased with the time made Inasmuch as there are so many new teachers and new pupils who are not yet accustomed to the order of leaving the building.

OXFORD, O., Sept. 20. The new municipal electric plant was put into operation today. New machinery has been installed throughout at a cost of about $10,000.

Commercial courses, general improvement courses and the other general studies offered last year will again be given. A course in the study and appreciation of art will be given. These are open to all persons over 14 years old. A new course for telephone operators is expected to have a large enrollment this year. The first night of the regular classes, October 8, will be given over to a general "get together" evening. Speakers for the evening and the evening's program will be announced later.

Andrew Mitchell, pastor of the South Eighth Street Friends church, said in addressing the meeting. He pointed out the many things Friends have led the world in and urged that more of the remarkable history be taught. "Don't Be Discouraged" "And don't be discouraged," he said. The sixty-fifth annual report of White's Manual Training institute, located near Wabash, Ind., was read by the trustees of the institution. The report showed that with 225 children in the school during the last year and the financial condition the best yet, unusual progress was being made.
