AUSTRIAN SLAVS READY TO BREAK WITH GERMANY

4.Q00 Who Were Fighting 'Against Allies Now Under Them.

CORFU. Island of Corfu. July 10. (By Mall.) There axe two whole Serbian divisions four thousand men which entered the war under the Austrian flag, fighting against the entente allies, and which today have turned squarely around and are fighting under the entente colors against the central powers. i . This fighting 'under two flags is one of the queer romances of the big war, related by Professor Yanitch, private chaplain of King Peter of Serbia, as Illustrating bow the conglomerate Slav population of southern AustriaHungary is ready to break away from the Hapsburg master. Forced Into Ranks. These two divisions, originally Austrian, were forced into the ranks early in the war from Bosnia. Crotia and Herzogovlna. the elav states forcibly annexed by Austria. ' : It is the great hot-bed of slav agitation. The population is overwhelmingly slav but Is held in subjection by the Iron military rule of the dual monarchy. ; It was here, at the central point of Sarajevo, that the Austrian crown prince was assassinated and the European war unchained. Although the work of a fanatic, it was only one of the evidence of the intense feeling of this Slav section against Its masters. Were Held In Reserve. The Austrian staff held the Slav forces In reserve for a time, well knowIng the bitterness in the ranks. But when General Brussiloffg great drive began a year ago In Galicla the Austrians had need of every man of their resources. This brought the Slav divisions Into line and for the first time Slav was facing Slav, the southern Slav element being thrust forward to meet the rush of their brothers from the north. 0 It was literally a fight of brother against brother. After one engagement a young Serb officer went among the enemy woundt ed and there found two of his brothers ' fatally shot by his own men and by his own orders. Race Tlee Are Strong. But the ties of race were stronger than flags. In one fight a machine gun battery attached to one of the Slav divisions opened by firing against the advancing Russians and then swinging their pieces about ended the day by pouring their battery into the Austrians. As the two sides came together the Slavs with the Austrian forces would call out "Ml smo Srbi," meaning "We are Serbs," which was the signal for steady streams of desertion from the Austrian to the Russian ranks. There was much surprise a year ago at the reports of great numbers of prisoners taken by Brussiloff and It is said this is largely accounted for by the great numbers of southern Slavs, who, forced to fight in the Austrian ranks, voluntarily gave them

selves up as prisoners when they met their Slav brothers from the north. At Salonlkl Now. These two Serbian divislna, made up of Slav prisoners from the Austrian ranks, have been placed under the command of General Zirkovitch, the

Felt Tired and Worn Out Great Deal Before Taking Tanlac.

"I used to be bothered a great deal with diy Bpells, especially if I was doing work that caused me to stoop over, but since taking Tanlac I'm not bothered that way at all and really am feeling fine," said J. Hoogerhyde, 908 Capital Avenue. Indianapolis. t "My stomach gave me a lot of trouble, too, before I took Tanlac, especially if I ate rich food or if I ate a little too much. Gas would form on my stomach and make me feel choked and stuffy. I felt tired all the time and I always felt sleepy in the morning and hated to get out of bed. "Tanlac certainly has put my stomach back in good shape for I can eat anything I want now and nothing hurts me at all., I don't feel tired out like I used to, either, and I feel fine when I get up in mornings. . "I think Tanlac is the thing for anyone who feels like I did." Tanlac is a vegetable tonic especially designed to build up run down systems If you are not feeling right get Tanlac today. Don't put it off. Delay is dangerous. You can get Tanlac at any of Clem Thistlethwaite's drug stores. Adv.

My. kidneys and bladder were badly affected and gave me great distress. I was habitually constipated, was continually taking laxatives and physics to get relief and had severe headaches.
