HANDLEY MAY DRILL MILITIA
Lawrence A. Handley, cashier of the German-American bank, will be asked to serve as drill-master of the two units of the state militia to be organized in Richmond, Frank Benn, Wayne county organizer, said Thursday. Handley has not decided whether he will accept the appointment, and claims that some one with a knowledge of military training should be appointed. Organizer Benn said that the two units will probably be organized in Richmond within three weeks, if the men between the ages of 18 and 21 respond as they should. Another company of men between the ages of 31 and 41 will also be organized. Two companies will be organized outside Richmond within two weeks, one at Cambridge City and one at Economy. A unit will be composed of fifty men and three officers. The companies will be sworn into state service as soon as they are organized. They will not be compelled to go out of the state.
Trinity Plans to Observe Anniversary Plans for the celebration of the twenty-five anniversary of the Trinity Lutheran church were made at a meeting of , church officials Wednesday night. The celebration will probably be held about September 15. Officers elected for the ensuing year are: Otto Schuman, elder; Roland Rosa, Everett Eckerman, Charle3 Juergens, deacons; George Haner, trusee; Otto Kemper, secretary; George Cutter, treasurer. The church will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Reformation this fall.
SGHWAN TO DIRECT GHATAI) QUA GAMES
Although there will be no Y. M. C. A. tent " at the Chautauqua grounds this year, arrangements have been made by Physical Director . Schwan, of the Y. M. C. A., to take charge of the boys athletics during the camping season. Under the" supervision of Mr. Schwan, and Boys' Secretary Williams, a boys' athletic league will be organized at the opening of the camp, and under this league, all athletic activities of the boys during the camp will be conducted. Under the plan of Mr. Schwan, all
boys who attend the Chautauqua may register for - the athletic league, - and captains will be elected by the registered boys. These captains will choose athletic teams and will compete . in tournaments of various games. Older men will also have an opportunity for recreation during the hours when there are no speakers In the auditorium. For the older men, a volleycourt will be erected just east of the auditorium tent, and - games will be played here every evening from 4:30 until 7 o'clock. The Hauser rifle is the most popular small-arm equipment in the world. Of the countries maintaining large military establishments in 1916, over onehalf used this rifle. It was originated and is manufactured in Germany.

WASHINGTON What the Indiana Dally Times said about the Tanks: Being an eye witness to one of the greatest and most collosal battles in the world's history, being able to watch the brave troops charge out of the first line trenches through a curtain of fire, and amid the torrent of shells, attack the enemy, is aa privilege granted to but few who remain to tell of the wonders and the grim drama of modern warfare. Yet this opportunity to see the actual history of the great world war In its making, told as only the unlying eye of the motion picture camera can record, is to be offered at the Circle theatre all of next wek starting Sunday, when that theatre will present the official British war pictures, "The Tanks' in Action at the Battle of the Ancre."
