Americans in France to Follow War ' Plans of French Leaders.
PERMANENT AMERICAN TRAINING CAMP IN FRANCE. . July 24. (Delayed). General Slebert late yesterday completed his Inspection tour of the camp and the billets. ' He expressed great satisfaction and commented particularly on the good order and cleanliness. French youngsters, seeing the American commander approach, stood at attention. The general smilingly Inspected the "marching front" and pronounced them "Brave petits garcons" (brave little fellows.) ' A traveling bazaar, of gypsies arrived early this morning. It did not take long for the "Sammies." who have 5ast had pay day, to buy out the entire stock. Prepare for Second Bunch. General staff officers are scouring the country to find billets for the next contingent of the American army. Everything is prepared for its arrival. The experience gasned by the first unit Is Invaluable In aiding preparations for the next. It is not known where the new force will be landed. The American staff is considering the French plan of selecting the best men for trench warfare. 3y this plan each corporal asks for fifteen men." Those whom be does not wish are detailed to do kitchen work, 'vhile those chosen by him go to the front. More good French Interpreters are needed by headquarters. There are three kinds of interpreters, as one office puts it. One can't speak English, me second doesn't know French and
the third knows neither.
The troops this morning had their
llrst actual course In the use of hand grenades, trench mortars and machine
guns. The men are enthusiastic over Ul innovations. Officers who have taken a postgraduate course in the
French schools conduct the maneuv
rrs. Noncommissioned officers also
are taking the French instruction.

TO HAVE SILENT PARADE
NEW YORK. July 25. As a protest against the recent East St. Louis race riots, negro residents of New York have arranged for a demonstration on Saturday to take the form of a silent parade down Fifth Ave.
Unusual clearness of the atmosphere, during which the stars twinkle brightly, is a sign of rain.

Fight fight day in and day out to prevent being overtaken by ills and ails. Keep wrinkles from marring the cheek and the body from losing its routhful appearance and buoyancy. Fight when ill-health is coming with Its pallor and pains, defects and declining powers. Fight to stay its course and drive it off. But fight intelligently. strong man or woman ofttimes becomes a pray to Ills after all. You will not find this class of persons in the hypoferria ranks. No unhealthy, dull, draggy, droopy persons in that line. THOUGHTS TO THINK ABOUT Men seem pessimistic when "money is "tight;" but with profit in sight all's different quite. Woman labors to satisfy the : inner man, and man in turn, by the sweat of his brow, labors , to satisfy the outer woman. The wounds you've received were ' meant ' for you, that you might enjoy their healing; the firmer your faith, the surer are you that God is just in his dealtag. , Most pianos are improved by some use; many music-lovers prefer the instrument that has. been used to the one that is brand-new. - Frequently the musical instrument classification of The Palladium contains several good used piano bargains.

Look and Feel Bright in Hot Weather
This Is the season when she who would have a lily-white complexion should turn her thoughts to mercolized wax, the firm friend of the summer girl. Nothing so effectually overcomes the soiling effects of sun, wind, dust and dirt The wax literally absorbs the scorched, discolored, freckled, withered or coarsened cuticle, bringing forth a brand new 6kin, clear, soft and girlishly beautiful. It also unclogs the pores, removing blackheads and increasing the skin's breath
ing capacity. An ounce of mercolized wax, obtainable at any drugstore, applied nightly like cold cream, and washed off mornings, will gradually improve the worst complexion. When depressed by the heat and you want to freshen up for the afternoon or evening, bathe the face in a lotion made by dissolving an ounce qf powdered saxolite in a half pint witch hazel. You'll find this more refreshing than an hour's rest. . It is fine for smoothing out wrinkles, even the deeper ones. Adv.
