STRENGTH DEVELOPS IN THE CORN MARKET
CHICAGO. July 21. Fresh strength developed in the corn market today owing in the main apparently to the wide discounts of new crop futures as compared with corn ready for immediate use. The voting, of the new Ger
man war credit seemed to tend some
what also to stimulate bullish sent!
ment. Opening prices which ranged
from the same as yesterday's finish to Me higher, with Sept. at $163 to
S1.63U and Dec. at $1.16 to $1.17.
were followed by material further
gains, but then a decided reaction.
Prospects of quick action in congress in fixing a minimum price was credit
ed with helping to life wheat prices,
After opening unchanged at $2.50 July and $2.18. Sept., the market rose to to
$2.2G September.
New price levels were reached for oats. The July option continued to be
in flspeclal demand from shorts.
Provisions ascended as a result of
an advance in quotations of meats at
Liverpool.
