WHEAT THRESHING TO BEGIN FRIDAY
Unless there is more rain the farmers of the county will begin threshing heir wheat on next Friday, acording to the farmers' bulletin, at Jones and Williams' store, on South Sixth street. "The farmers are ready to thresh their wheat now, and all that is needed is another day of clear weather," the
bulletin says.
Rural Mail Service May Be Curtailed If Roads Aren't Better
A few Wayne county people probably
will lose their rural route mall service If the roads aren't Improved, -says Postmaster Beck. A general raising of standards for all roads in the country will follow an inspection to be started by the government and stretches of Wayne county mud will not be able to stand inspection. Route A and the rural : route from Boston-will be most affected according to the postmaster. -

steps toward conserving the county's food supply were taken when a mass
meeting was held here and a corps of
officers elected to govern affairs of an organization whose members will pledge themselves to cut out all household waste and be guided by directions sent out by National Food Commissioner Herbert Hoover. The local

Mrs. Minnie V. Michael, who was elected chairman of the organization. Other officers follow: First vice chairman, Rev. Sara L. Stoner; second vice chairman, Mrs. Mary G. Brooke; secretary, Mrs. Grace McFall; treasurer, Miss Mary Tingle. The executive committee is composed by Mrs. Edith Spring. Mrs. Grace McFall. Miss Jennie Truax, Mrs. Julia Lander and Mrs. Anna Evans. For many years the bank's business has been conducted in that location. Posed As Boarder For Two Long Years HAGERSTOWN, Ind., July 19. Two years ago Harris Harrison, and Miss Elizabeth Benbow, of this place, went to Cincinnati and were married. They returned to Hagerstown and resumed their usual occupations not telling anyone of their marriage, and it was not Uiitil Thursday that an announcement of their marriage was made. Since their marriage, until the present time, Mrs. Harrison has continued to be known as Miss Benbow and no one knew of her relationship with Mr. Harrison. Mrs. Harrison kept a boarding house here and her husband posed as one of the boarders. Both are well known here.

The continued rains of the last few days have delayed the threshing of wheat in this neighborhood, which was to have commenced Monday. Farmers report the grain in some fields to be sprouting, but as yet no serious damage has resulted. The crop is excellent both as to quantity and quality.
