All bids shall be accompanied by the certiffed check of the bidder equal to at least two per cent of his bid with the minimum amount of check being in sum of Fifty Dollars ($50) ; and such check made payable to undersigned Trustee and in guaranty that success ful bidder will engage in contract ac cording to proposal: The successful bidder will be re quired to enter into his written contract and also to deliver hii bond pay able to Wayne School Township as usually conditioned in sum equal to the the amount of his bid, and conditioned upon faithful compliance with terms of contract. He will be required to commence work at , earliest possible date following August 7th, 1917, and to complete all work by him contracted at once and without delay. All bids shall be upon form prescrib ed by State Board of Accounts of Indiana, and unless submitted upon such forms no consideration of same will "be given, and unless accompanied by certified check as above no consideration will be given the bid. Answer: Turn one of the yellowish leaves up-side down, and you will no doubt find that the under surface of these leaves are covered with dark green bugs. These are plant lice and are sucking the juice from the leaves. Use a contact spray Black Leaf 40 and destroy the plant lice by hitting them with the spray mixture. Mr. E. F. Answer: No. Mr. Murphy, Civic Gardener, ' Garden Department. - , What should one use for the green worm on cabbage? They eat holes In the leaves that form the head of the cabbage. U. E. K. Answer: Use white hellebore, full strength dry or one pound to three gallons of water. Lime dusted on dry Is also beneficial. Some growers also use alum water by dissolving one tablespoonful in a gallon of water. These worms are rather conspicuous and if one has only a few plants, he may easily pick the worms and destroy them mechanically. Mr. E. F. Murphy, Civic Gardener, Palladium Garden Department. I have yellow wax beans. They are being ruined by brown spots on the pods. The brown spots are about a quarter of an Inch in diameter. The beans are yielding heavily, but these spots spoil the beans. Is there anything that can be done? L H. F. , Answer: This is a fungus disease and can be prevented and controlled by the use of Bordeaux mixture. Note: It would be a good plan for our gardeners to acquaint themselves more thoroughly with Bordeaux mixture and plan to use it at regular intervals through the garden season next year.
