American Sailors Save Survivors of British Ships Sent to Bottom

THE BASE OF THE AMERICAN Flotilla in britibh waters, June 20. Two Amorioan dostroyors oave returned here with 80 survivor's Dt two torpedoed BriUsb ships. The ihlpt were sunk at the farthest point westward In the AUantlo the U-boats oave appeared sinco the ruthless campalgn began and the response of the American destroyers to their S. O. S. was more than a hundred miles away. "When the warships arrived on the scene they found the ships were gone ind for many hours they groped about In the dark In search of the survivors. The crew of one of the sunken ships, 81 in number, was found In one lifeboat while 49 survivors from the second ship were picked up from two small boats. Four sailors from the latter ship were killed by the explosion of the torpedo. Men Are Praised. Admiral Sims and other naval officers met the destroyers on their return and complimented the commanders on the work. American correspondents were present, having been Invited here through an arrangement between the United States and British governments. The British admiralty

assigned an official photographer to take pictures of anything desired by the newspapermen. Many pictures were taken chowing the American tsrs fraternizing with the British sailors. The Americans presented a splendid appearance, being as fine a body of fighting men as could be found anywhere. Although there are no war-time restrictions on the sale of liquor In this part, the saloons are not the rendezvous of either the Americans or Britishers. National Game Played. One of the diversions of the American tars Is Initiating their British colleagues into the mysteries of the American national game. When the correspondents arrived in the port they were taken to the beautiful old English home where Admiral Sims has his headquarters. The house is 300 feet above the town and from the wonderful gardens, which surround it, several American destroyers could be seen riding at anchor. The admiral chatted with the newspapermen for half an hour after which they were taken to inspect the harbor.

The above photograph represents i small part of the large collection of wheel chairs, crutches, canes and photographs of the Varnesis Exhibition room, 140 Boylston St., Boston, Mass. Thousands from all parts of the country have called to see this remarkable exhibition and have expressed wonder at such an array of evidence. The name and address of the former owner and sufferer of each wheel chair, crutch or cane on display is attached to each article and one thousand dollars is offered if they are not as represented. W. A. Varney said: "The people who used these wheel chairs, crutches and articles exhibited here, were in a very bad condition as you can readily understand. Many of them were helpless and were told that they would never be any better. They had done all they could and nothing would reach their case.

Some, to please Interested friends, tried Var-ne-sis, with the result that today they are well and strong, having no further use for the wheel chair or crutches, they have given them to me to add to my colletion. What Var-ne-sis has done for these people it will do for others. I am continually producing evidence; publishing some remarkable recovery from chronic rheumatism of the joints brought about by Var-ne-sis and I feel that it is more to the interest of a sufferer to take Var-ne-sis than

it is to me. The longer one put off

taking Var-ne-sis the longer they will

suffer needlessly.

Both declared that after they were bound, one of the robbers fitted a duplicate knob Into the safe dial and opened the strong box without apparent difficulty. It is customary for express agents to remove the knob of safes as a precaution against robbery after valuables have been counted and locked inside. Knew In Advance. Because of the seeming ease with which the robbers obtained their plunder, It was asserted by the police that they must have had advance information of the shipment of coin, of the character of the safe and perhaps of the combination. The double-service tooth paste,

keeps teeth clean AND GUMS HEALTHY.

Keeping the gums healthy and the mouth sweet is very Important to health ; more teeth are lost through the loosening of the tissue that holds the teeth in place than from decay. Dental science to-day demands that a tooth paste must keep the gums healthy as well as clean the teeth. Senreco was formulated to meet this requirement. Hundreds of dentists are prescribing and using Senreco because they have found that it does measure up to that standard. SENRECO IS A WONDERFUL CLEANSER. In addition to its remedial properties Senreco is wonderful cleanser; acts directly on the mucin film, the basis of tartar; leaves the mouth cool and clean-feeling. As some one has expressed it Senreco gives one new idea on mouth cleanliness. Get a tube to-day at your druggists or toilet counter enjoy the healthy, cleanly feeling its use gives your mouth and gums. Notice how brilliantly white Senreco makes your teeth. It performs this two-fold service for you and yet costs no more than the ordinary, old-loshioned tooth paste that ; simply cleans the teeth and leaves pleasant taste 23 cents for large .
