Most Important of the exercises held in New. York City on Memorial Day was the "launching" of the U. S. S. Recruit," The battle-gray landship. built in Union Square Park, was turned over to Rear-Admiral Usher, Commandant of the New York Navy Yard, by Mayor Mitchel. The VRecruit" is built of wood and was paid for by popular subscription. BOND FUNERAL HELD
LIBERTY, lnd., . June 2. The funeral services of Mrs. Mary Freeman Bond, who died at her home on South street, Wednesday, were held in the Methodist church Friday afternoon.
The services were conducted by the Rev. C.W. Whitman. Mrs. Bond is survived by. four children, three sons, Alfred and Leland, of this place, Ray, who lives in lnd; ianapolis, and a daughter, Mrs.. Oscar Chance, of Connersville. Burial was in West Point cemetery.

FOURTEEN GRADUATED
OXFORD, O., June 1. The annual commencement of the Bath, township high school,. In Franklin county, lnd., took place last evening in Harmony church, west of town. A class of fourteen young men and women was graduated as follows: Edward Lynch, Grace Dare, Ethel Himelick, Edna and George Bryer, Hazel McCof fey, Gertrude Van Matter, Howard Parady, Martha Rader, Rose Remeger, Virgil Davis, Dorothy Nicolay, Harold Bandendistel and Morrs Branchla.
