Mr. and Mrs. Walker Land and Miss Miriam Krone were among the guests from this city, who attended the commencement dance at the Coliseum in Newcastle, Friday evening. The ball :oom was prettily decorated for the occasion. The Mitchell orchestra of Jiushvllle played. Miss Carolyn Hutton will entertain members of a bridge club Tuesday afternoon at her home, North Fifteenth tstreet. As a courtesy to Miss Goldie Paintf r, who will be married Tuesday, June 5, to Mr. Ray Unthank, Miss Gertrude Clarke is to give a party Tuesday evening. A meeting of the Aid society of the West Richmond Friends' church will be held Tuesday afternoon in the Community House.

morial hospital, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Schuh of South Twenty-first street returned Sunday evening from Indianapolis, where they were called by the death of Mr. Schuh's father, J. C. Schuh. He was burled in Greenville, .Ohio, Friday morning. He at one time resided here with Mr. and Mrs. Schuh. John H. Campbell and Albert E. Bonsall returned last evening from West Virginia, where they attended a G. A. R. convention. In a few days they will go to Bloomington. Illinois, to attend a G. A. R. convention. Belated announcement has been made of the marriage of Mr. William Clay of Morgan, Kentucky, and Mrs. Ollie Rising of Chicago. They were married September 6, 1916. The engagement of Mr. John Green of East Germantown, Indiana, to Miss Ella Steinkamp has been announced. A slumber party was given by the Club of 380 .Saturday night at the home Miss Emma Rosa, 326 South street. In the party were Mrs. William Balzer, Mrs. Scott Markley, Misses Ella Steinkamp, Clara Hawekotte, Anna Hasemeier, Amelia Klute, Emma Rosa, Mary Hasemeier and Elizabeth Rosa. A linen shower and luncheon was given today at the home of Mrs. William Balzer, South Ninth street. The guests were: Mrs. Scott Markley, Misses Ella Steinkamp, Elizabeth Rosa, Emma Rosa, Mary Hasemeier, Anna Hasemeier, Amelia Klute, Clara Hawekotte and Grace Balzer. Tuesday at 6 o'clock dinner will be given at the home of Mrs. Scott Markley, South Nineteenth street. Mr. Leroy Strickler of Lancaster, Ohio, spent the week-end with Mrs. Strickler, who is the guest of her father, Mr. Richard Sedgwick.
This evening Miss Ruth Scott is giving a dinner at the Country club for ten guests. Mr. Robert Carvey, who is in training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Needham.
A prettily appointed luncheon was given by the Senior class of the High school Friday at noon. French baskets filled with bridal wreath, the handles of which were fastened with bows of blue and white tulle ornamented the tables. The place cards were also In the same colors. A successful, market was given Saturday in the Starr Piano rooms on Main street by members of a committee of the Red Cross assosiation for the benefit of the association. Mrs. Albert D. Gayle was chairman of the committee. Those who assisted her throughout the day were Mesdames W. P. Robinson, Williard Z. Carr, John Clements, Paul Oomstock, Misses Mary Clements and Martha Scott. Seventy-one dollars and sixty-seven cents was realized. Miss Mildred Schalk will give a puipls recital Friday afternoon, June 1, at 3 o'clock at her home, 120 North Eighteenth street. Parents and friends are invited. Attorney and Mrs. W. O. Smith motored here from Winchester Sunday and visited friends and kinspeople. The Aid society of the Reid Memorial Hospital will not meet Thursday afternoon of this week as announced. The meeting will be held June 7 at the home of Mrs. George Eggemeyer, East Main street.
