Where Richmond's Society Congregates

On account of the death of Judge D. W. Comstock the party which was to have been given Tuesday evening by Mr, and Mrs. E. R. Beatty at the Country club for Mr. Frank Van Uxein of California, a former resident of this f ity has been deferred until later in the week. The function will be given at the Country club. Mr. Philip Starr of North Tenth street, is entertaining several guests to dinner this evening at the Country club in honor of Miss Elizabeth Massey of Birmingham, Alabama, the guest of Miss Eleanor SeidaL j The wedding of Dr. Paul Hutchinson of Cary. Ind.. son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchinson and a brother to Mrs. H. B, Loper, and Miss Bonnie Huddleston, was solemnized this morning at 11 o'clock at the home of the bride's sister in Gary. The affair was very quiet and only the near relatives of the bride attended. Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson left this afternoon in their car on a motor trip. They will arrive here next week for a few days visit Dr. Hutchinson is a dentist at Gary. ,H attended the local high school and was graduated from the Indiana Dental college at Indianapolis. He has many friends In this city. One of the charming social functions of the coming week Is the auction-bridge party which Mrs. Joseph Conner is giving Monday at her apartments in the Pelham as a courtesy to Miss Elizabeth Massey of Birmingham, Alabama, who is the guest of Miss Eleanor Seidel. This is the first of a series, of parties to be given for the guest. Kensington club members will be entertained Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Walter Luring at her home, South Fourteenth street. Members of an auction-bridge club will be entertained Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Julian Cates. The members of the Spring Grove Sewing Circle will . be entertained Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Andrew Hoover at her home In Spring Grove. Tuesday afternoon auction-bridge club members will meet next week with Mrs. Howard Messick at her home. South Eleventh street.

Mrs. Fred Gobel will be hostess Monday afternoon for a njeeting of an auction-bridge club at her home, Cambridge City. The aid society of the South Eighth Street Friends church has postponed its meetings for the summer. A meeting of the West Richmond W. C. T. U. will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Community house. There will be special music. The subject will be, "Prohibition as a War Measure." , An election of officers will be held Monday evening when members of the loyal Messenger Class of the First Christian chnrch meets with Miss Ruth Allen.

Monday evening the members of the Teachers Federation are giving a party in the high school gymnasium. There will be a number of special features.

The King's Daughters of the Second Presbyterian church, will meet Monday evening with Miss Ruth Mumbower at her home, 2300 North E street. " ' " " The Dramatic club of the Garfield whooi is giving a play, "Silver Threads." Parents and patrons of the school are Invited. The Narcissus Embroidery club will meet Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Joseph Phenis at her home, Richmond avenue. Mrs. Walter Test will entertain members of the Greenbriar Community club Wednesday afternoon at her country home, south of the city. Members of the We-Do-So club will be entertained Wednesday evening by Miss Marie Wrede at her home, West Main street. Friday afternoon Mrs. Frank Glass of East Main street Is giving a party at her home, East Main street, for her guest, Mrs. Sims of Indianapolis, and also for Mrs. J. H. Gilchrist of Chicago, who is the guest of Mrs. W. S. Clendenln, North Fifteenth street.

Members of the Helping Hand club will be entertained Thursday afternoon by Mrs. George Steinkamp at her heme, South Eleventh street. Miss Esther Parry will entertain members of the Coterie club Thursday afternoon at her home, North Ninth rtre?t. In honor of Mrs. J. H. Gilchrist of Chicago, Mrs. W. S. Friday afternoon Mrs, George Bowers will be hostess for a meeting of the Mary Hill W. C. T. U. at her home, 1350 Hunt street. The entertainment committee of the Cambridge Lodge Number 9, Knights of Pythias has arranged for a dance to be given Thursday evening, May 24 in the Pythian Temple. The Miller's

Hawaiian orchestra will play. This is the annual commencement dance. Mr. and Mrs. Wralter Klehfoth will entertain members of a euchre club Friday evening at their home. A committee of the Red Crosf association will conduct a food sale Saturday. May 26, in the Starr Piano rooms, corner Main and Tenth streets. Mrs. Paul Noss will entertain members of the Sunshine Crochet club Thursday afternoon at her home, North Seventeenth street. A meeting of the Current Events club will be held Wednesday afternoon and the hostess will be named later. Mrs. G. S. Treglown and little daughter, are leaving for a residence at Lake Charles, Louisianna. Mr. Treglown left the Jirst of the week and Mrs. Treglown and daughter will join him next week. They have made many friends here during their brief residence who regret to see them leave.

Miss Marie Wrede attended the last meeting of the year of the Sans Souci club held at the home of Miss Edna LaGrande in Newcastle Wednesday evening. The affair was in the nature of a surprise shower for Miss Dora Hill, a member of the club who will be married in the early fall. Miss Meta Pfafflin of Indianapolis will spend the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pfafflin, East Main street. ' ' Plans were made for a public meeting of the Frances Willard W. C. T. U. Friday afternoon when members of the union met at the home of Mrs. J. E. Eves, .South Sixteenth street. Mrs. J. Carey Smith of Burriss, Ontario, who is the guest of her brother, Mr. M.' T.
